[Read the article: The lessons of "My Humps"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Alanis' satire and its fallout have been intriguing me since a week ago when I watched both clips (the original I confess had not been familiar to me, it was a brief hit here at a time I was on holiday). Last weekend we read that Fergie had sent Alanis a big bunch of flowers saying how much she liked Alanis' song. This week, much wider coverage of another gift, a large cake shaped as (flesh-coloured) buttocks, together with card proclaiming Alanis a genius. No word of Alanis' response. What's up with the PR? Fergie knows that Alanis crucified her song and turned it into a modern gender role tragedy, at the same time ridiculing Fergie's whole persona as a pop/hip-hop diva. Fergie doesn't love the spoof, she's trying to work out how to handle the public reaction. Could we have a longer article looking at this, perhaps by Heather H or Rebecca T? Would love to hear Camille's view, as a pro-sex feminist does she support the impact of the Fergies of this world on young girls in particular? or is it a necessary side effect of women expressing their sexuality in the music business?

Free the Fix
[Read the article: Goodbye to the Fix, for now]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Please bring back the Fix, I agree with many of the sentiments already expressed; we need something light to get through the day, we're not interested in other gossip sites, and taking this away has made the site something less than what it was before. Plus those of us in the southern hemisphere are now going into winter...so we need our Fix even more!
