@mcwatt

Jack! Jack! Jack! Are you saying I am hysterical and hyperventilating? And this after your post on this very site at 06:04 equating African Americans who think differently from you with Nazi Jews?

Since you have missed the point completely, the "Nazi Jews" reference wasn't about "African Americans who think differently" from me. It was about people who mindlessly support political parties and policies that adversely affect them.

I know today's Republicans have to be deliberately obtuse at this point, but Jeeeze...

Demographic ballot stuffing

For Christianists, it's much more about politics than religion.

The Quiverfull movement is just an organized attempt to outbreed their political opposition. But with single-earner families that large, how many will ultimately depend on the "socialist" programs they rail against?

Unlimited population growth = mass starvation

Since the Earth as a finite system can sustain only a finite number of humans -- those who advocate unlimited population growth are really arguing for a catastrophic die-off at some point in the future.

They're just gambling that the inevitable mass starvation occurs long after they themselves are gone.

That kind of willful refusal to follow the inexorable logic shows a shocking indifference to their own progeny's welfare.

There is a glimmer of hope..

Glenn Beck's "We're Not Crazy" brigades coupled with the manly martial arts of Texas President Chuck Norris.

Beck's audience are mainly religious kooks

Read the comments section on Beck's blog -- it's mostly about fundamentalist religious issues like the "end times" and anti-Christ.

For these kooks, "socialism" is just a code word for secularism.

At the root of it, they just can't handle being on the losing end of the democratic process. The Right should be reminded that liberals felt no less disenfranchised over the last eight years, but nobody on the Left suggested secession or forming armed revolutionary cells.

It shows who the real patriots are.

Beck's crusade: It's not about Communism

It's about religious fundamentalism. Beck's fans are pissed because they're not in the political driver's seat any more -- and are now muttering about armed rebellion.

Read Beck's blog, the912project.com, comments section to get a taste of these kooks' sense of entitlement, frustration and militancy.

WH Press Corps "Presstitutes"

By the way certain members of the WH press corps are getting the vapors over Gibbs' witty response to Cheney's barbs, I'm reminded of the late-great Mike Royko's definition of an honest politician -- only applied to today's crop of telejournalists.

"Once they're bought they stay bought."

Original article: Obama's new message to Iran

Beyond normalization of US-Iranian relations

The Obama administration is laying the groundwork for not only normalization of relations with Iran, but ultimately, a military alliance.

This will be necessary to box-in Pakistan, which has become the most dangerously unstable (due to its nuclear arsenal and subversive jihadist elements within the government) country on the planet today.

Inflation's two benefits

1. It counteracts deflation.

2. It makes debt cheaper to repay.

Of course, unless America gets back into the business of actually generating wealth--manufacturing--instead of just shuffling paper and flipping burgers, it won't make a difference in the long run.

@LibertarianLeft

Reporters in the second group could then write, "A reporter who attended but wished to remain anonymous said the briefing was conducted by...." Not a complete solution by any means, just a tactic (it wouldn't work for one-on-one meetings), but it might help to undermine one aspect of that corrupt system.

Our M$M is either too corrupt or too dimwitted to ever utilize that simple solution to serve the public interest.

Because congressional Democrats are not a real political party

Congressional Democrats are just a bunch of independent freelancers with no common agenda, no common strategy, no common rhetoric, no party discipline and no leadership. They do not comprise a "political party" in any meaningful sense of the term.

They only thing that delineates them from the Republicans (who unfortunately are a coherent political party) is that, for the most part, they are not criminally insane.

Why the Europeans "can afford it"

Europeans dumped their exploitive, parasitic, hereditary aristocracy a century ago. Americans, in contrast, apparently will fight to the death to defend the privileges of our hereditary nobility against the scourge of "socialism."

European unemployment rates

In most European countries, when business downturns result in furloughs and layoffs, generous unemployment compensation of 80% of salary means that, while workers must tighten their belts, they do not experience the economic disaster that their American cousins face in similar circumstances.

Being laid off in Europe means an extended vacation. In America, you wind-up living in your car with no health insurance.

Oh, those stupid European socialists.

Voodoo economics

Republicans believe, despite all historical evidence to the contrary, that cutting taxes increases revenues.

One would expect the GOP to call for the elimination of all taxation to achieve infinite revenues.

Monday, April 6, 2009 10:56 AM

Recess appointments

Obama should show congressional Republicans what he thinks of their filibuster threats with recess appointments.

As the minority, GOP senators can't keep the Senate in pro forma session, and their only recouse would be to try to explain why recess appointments are only bad when "Democrat" presidents do it.

Why big money loves deficit spending

For balanced budgets, Big Money needs to be taxed at high rates.

Naturally, Big Money doesn't care for that situation, so they convince middle class boobs that they're being over-taxed, and hack politicians can then campaign on platforms offering tax cuts (whether they make financial sense or not).

As a result, government must borrow money to make up the shortfall.

Now instead of paying taxes, Big Money charges the government interest on the money it must borrow.

This is great for Big Money, but the citizens are screwed when the government is too cash-starved to offer crucial government services.

This was the reason for those 90% tax brackets for zillionaires under President Eisenhower. He was no socialist, just a realist.

Shouting "Fire!" in a crowded theater

Constitutionally, falsely propagandizing to legions of already deranged gun nuts that Obama is coming to take their precious AK-47s away may be the same as shouting "Fire!" in a crowded theater.

Those responsible for that type of shameless incitement should bear some liability.
