That "sociopathic third"

Whether they're true sociopaths or just politically retarded, that troublesome third of our fellow citizens that loves Limbaugh and Hannity and thinks Bush was a great president was roughly the same proportion of the German population that supported the Nazi party in 1933.

That "sociopathic third" is apparently common to every society.

Stupid, crazy or a combination of the two -- they can't be reasoned with or negotiated with. They can only be vigorously confronted in the battle for the "muddled middle."

Law Enforcement Gone Wild

Applying child pornography laws to cases like these makes me conclude that the prosecutors are intolerably stupid, viciously cruel, or both.

Fox News shouting "fire" in a crowded theater

Glenn Beck has crossed the line from serving-up red meat to the Faux News fans to a thinly veiled call for insurrection against the constitutional government of the United States -- apparently in the name of "God."

When Beck is forced to advise his viewers that they're "not crazy" for holding these beliefs, we know that he -- and they -- surely are.

This is the type of right-wing poison injected into our politics by short-wave radio and the proto-internet BBS systems in the early 90s that led to the OKC bombing. Now we have the First Amendment equivalent of a major "news" network shouting "fire" in a crowded theater.

There should be legal consequences.

Presstitution

With all-too-few exceptions, American journalism has been dead since the Reagan era.

They can't risk offending the advertisers -- since the "news" is just the stuff that they have to run between the ads.

Karl "Pants on Fire" Rove & the WSJ

Rove is such a habitual liar that, if he were to say he loved his children, one would have to seek independent verification.

As for the Wall Street Journal, its editorial page (and comments) have become indistinguishable from Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck and their fans. Kooks...

@energycaper

Regarding the Republicans' obnoxious -- and entirely coordinated rhetorical use of the term "Democrat Party" -- I've long advocated that Democrats counter by using the term "Republicanist Party."

That "ist" suffix carries plenty of negative rhetorical baggage. But unfortunately, when it comes to political rhetoric, Democrats are generally amateurs.

Jonathan Krohn as political Marjoe

Let's hope young Jonathan didn't suffer beatings to force him to memorize the chapters and verses (of right-wing political scriptures) like Marjoe did.

PNAC's call for a "new Pearl Harbor"

The Imperial Right called for it and they got it (two, actually -- 9/11 and the anthrax attacks).

The targets of the anthrax attacks leave no doubt that they were designed for domestic political effect, i.e., emergency powers for the president.

This caper has the stench of the Reichstag Fire all over it.

Rationale for avoiding investigations

Since the Republicans freely admit that the Clinton impeachment was "payback" for the vote to impeach (and subsequent resignation) of Richard Nixon, is it possible that Obama and the Democrats simply want to avoid Republican criminalization of Obama administration policy -- should the GOP ever take control of Congress again?

It would be a cowardly, self-serving motivation, if true. But after the Clinton impeachment, we know the Republicans will stoop to any tactic -- no matter how destructive or unfair -- to achieve their short-term political ends.

@pete b

If it is "possible that Obama and the Democrats simply want to avoid Republican criminalization of Obama administration policy -- should the GOP ever take control of Congress again", how would you distinguish that from a willingness to "stoop to any tactic -- no matter how destructive or unfair -- to achieve their short-term political ends"?

I wouldn't -- except that the Republicans wouldn't be at all shy about using "payback" as an explicit, publicly stated justification -- no matter the costs to them politically or the damage inflicted on the country, as with the Clinton impeachment.

The Republican Party has become so radical -- and so eager to please their lunatic-fringe "base" -- they've become political kamikazees. That's why I think any fear of a GOP political comeback, and any resulting "payback," are unfounded.

Now's the time to force the Republicans into another post-New Deal era of irrelevance, not for timidity and political cowardice.

Investigations and exposure of Bush-era criminality could only weaken (if not permanently eliminate) the Republicans as a national party.

Black Republicans = Jewish Nazis

Black Republicans fall into three categories:

1. The deluded (J.C. Watts)

2. The self-loathing (Clarence Thomas)

3. The opportunistic (Michael Steele)

As J.C Watts' (who learned his election to a GOP House leadership position was strictly "symbolic" and was so frozen-out of any actual decision-making that he ultimately resigned from Congress) father publicly stated: "Any black man supporting the Republican Party is like a chicken supporting Col. Sanders."

Unfortunately, there are plenty of opportunists willing to support Col. Sanders -- we see them with boring regularity on Fox News.

@mcwatt

Hey Jack, what do you think we ought to do with all those pesky black folks that refuse to think like you think they should? You got all the ones who have strayed from your viewpoint neatly classified as "opportunistic" "deluded" or filled with "self Loathing". Not what do we do, call them names, get rid of them, maybe do some re-education? I wonder if you could be any more condescending if you really tried your hardest? It would be such a wonderful world if everyone thought just the same, right?

Like the insane Jewish Nazis (yes, you can find a few isolated instances) I referred to in my original post's title, there are so few black Republicans as to be negligible.

It's not "condescending" to make note of the psychopathology of those who identify with their oppressors.

Only the Fox News cultists expect the "reality-based community" to share their celebration of those isolated nutcases and/or shameless opportunists.

Do you even read these posts before launching into your hysterical, hyperventilating screeds?

You might try it sometime -- you'll find it will occasionally prevent you from looking like a complete idiot.
