King?

Can anyone give me one good reason this man continues to have a column? Does he contribute anything on any sport subject?

Original article: Did I just buy an SUV?

I know how you feel

My wife and I lived in Montana and had a Honda Element which was great since we drove little (I could drive my 4wheeler to work which is legal in Montana)had two dogs and hauled stuff to the dump. When we moved back to Milwaukee we sold the Element and got a Honda Fit. Nice car and had great gas mileage, but because of an undiagnosed neurological problem in my legs the seats made me nearly paralyzed from the waist down. Since I am a home care hospice nurse I spend much of the day driving and need to carry my office, lunch room, and central supply room with me all day. We still have the dogs, but not the Fit. I regretfully had to go back to the Element and my leg pain immediately disappeared. I'm sorry it's gas mileage is so poor by comparison, but it beats walking on all fours between patients.

What the hey!

I didn't realize that King was still writing a column because he adds absolutely nothing to any understanding of sports in any way. I could get just as coherent an analysis from just about anyone I would randomly ask on the street. Sniffin' too many nappies perhaps? Since when did he ingest the "bland pill?" There used to be some spark here which I really admired. Now I think I will just go off and make myself some miso soup, a bowl of rice, and throw on some soy sauce and kim chee. Not that would be tangy.

Shortening up the LCS

Great idea. Why don't we just make the baseball playoffs a game show. King Kaufman as Bob Barker. That sounds like a plan. I originally thought that it might be better to shorten the format of King's cerebellum, but can see that it's not possible. In my ever humble opinion the most obvious and simplest solution is to reduce the number of regular season games which we all know is beyond impossible. Lacking that sensible option all other suggestions are merely hand candy.

I changed my name to my wife's name

What's the big deal here? I changed my last name to my wife's last name nearly 30 years ago because my family name was too difficult to spell or pronounce even for those people in my own ethnic group. I couldn't have been happier for the results. I don't understand why someone has to go to court for that "right." I just went to the Probate court in Boston and filed a name change. Why is this a problem?

Virtually anonymous grief

I am continuously amazed at the media attention that is given to the death of celebrites. There are countless daily brutal deaths to people who are only known to their own families. There are countless deaths of people who have spent their lives working for peace and reconciliation while all the memorials are for those in the military. Why on earth is Sean Taylor's death so over-the-top

newsworthy when all of the people who sacrifice their lives cleaning offices, working as nursing assistants with two jobs while being single mothers don't receive a pisspot of recognition. There is something drastically wrong with this

"grief-worthiness' system.

3:10 to Yuma

My wife and I have just moved to Milwaukee after having lived in Montana for the past seven years. It was a thrill to see this movie which was just perfect in its visual sense, pace, and quality of acting. There have been some reviewers who have complained about "bloating in the middle." Well, lemme tell you, most people my age complain about the same thing. Having had the good fortune of living in the high plains I can say that, yes, there are times when nothing seems to be happening. That just enhances the treasury of action moments. This is just a terrific film because it reflects the real lives of people who live in this kind of environment, the gritty decisions they have to make, and the types of social standards they are expected to live up to.

Get a crutch

My god, this was a hall of fame worthy lame article. There were not two consecutive sentences that had any relevance to anything. Maybe I'm wrong. This could be a Daily Show parody on sports writing.

Blowing one's credibility

After reading an essay about "Deadwood-speak week" I would have to say that anyone in any medium, especially Salon, should be banned for life for using the word "goldarn." This must be a curse given to King for having a child. Or something like that. I nearly dropped my dentures when I read that word. My wife and I will be watching another episode of "Deadwood's" second season. I guarantee that KK will never be nicknamed King "Swearin'-gen." Snap out of it big boy, be a man, and call fuckin' up by its proper name.
