for once, just once, why not actually ADDRESS the point of the article. Palin allowed for uncontrolled growth that turned her home-town into a strip-mall shithole
(I lived in Alaska for some years long ago and Wasilla was a dump even then...other posters here who talk about how Alaskans feel about the environment are absolutely right--with one caveat: in some rural areas people are sensitive to the environment...but people who live in Anchorage, the Mat-Su Valley, Fairbanks and formerly in Kenai-Soldotna before it dried up and blew away, are pretty much all complete pigs about the environment, those towns are so ugly and so primitive in terms of zoning, it beggars description)...
C'mon Elephantman, you callow fool, address the point for once. What do you think about Palin accellerating the death of the lake she lives on? Hm? What do you think about her turning her home-town into an even bigger shithole than it already was?
I love how you just never address anything that might give you trouble. You always try to run after some other shiny object.
Pathetic.
with the fact that these crazy religious zealots have plagued humanity from the time we crawled out of the cave.
This is nothing new. Myself, I think it's salutary to remember things like the French catholics who choked the Seine River with the bodies of the Huguenots in the 16th century Wars of Religion...worth noting that the St. Bartholomew's Day Massacre was fomented by King Charles IX's *mother* Catherine de' Medici.
In short, religious violence fomented by political leaders is a fine old sport...and it's good that we fight it tooth and nail. It's also good to remember that this has been with us forever.
I suspect the founding fathers really hoped their new experiment in enlightenment political organization would prevent wars of religion. But these nut-jobs never give up, and never give in, and so, at last, the religious crazies have subverted our political process, used by cynical old atheists like Dick Cheney. It's about as filthy a mess as could be imagined. But it's not a new mess.
The GOP is going to play as dirty as they have to. Period.
Hypocrisy, lying, stealing, cheating, bullying. The GOP is proving itself the worst of us as Americans.
I am ashamed. The party of Lincoln, reduced to this shit. It would be funny, if it was not so deadly serious. If they're not dangerous waterheads, they are even more dangerous manipulators. McCain has always struck me as a pathetic opportunist, more like Bush than Bush himself. Even back when he was a "maverick.." he's always been an inauthentic prick.
The obama campaign better hope their gotv effort is enough, because the game is on now, and the GOP is going to fight dirty. Are we finally ready this time?
she's no different from any other head-in-the-sand gooper.
She's actually on record as saying something to the effect that we need to drill "here in America" to give "America" oil..when she knows perfectly well that all oil goes on the international market, where it is sold to the highest bidder.
Every gooper knows that, or should. If they do know, then they're lying. If they don't know, they're just incompetent.
Either way, she loses on that one.
Christ. A ball game? I want you to sit for one minute and imagine her as President. She's Tracy Flick with a dangerous religious delusion. She's Goebbels with a better figure. it's to laugh. I mourn for my country that we cough up horrors like Palin and McCain.
don't GOP leaks around the McCain campaign, and simple circumstantial evidence, all point to something different?
Didn't McCain want Lieberman or Ridge, but was told *no* by the right-wing extremists who control the Party? Wasn't Palin the only choice he had left that the crazies would accept?
Your analysis may have validity, but, I suspect, when the long-view history is written, this VP pick with be laid directly at the feet of the right-wing maniacs who have been in charge of the GOP for two decades now.
All the rest of your analysis would be more like wishful-thinking after McCain was essentially presented with a fait-accompli by his right-wing religious base.
..in this country, who can actually tolerate the sound of Joe Lieberman's voice for more than 10 seconds, by now?
Quite apart from the mendacious bile that voice spews.
I wish someone would tell me just who in hell Lieberman actually appeals to at this point. Surely his constituents in Connecticut would vote him out of office tomorrow if they could.
don't you get it man? This is ABSOLUTELY relevant. This could kill McCain's candidacy in a week. This is the kind of thing that destroys a candidate. It may or may not in this case, but it's absolutely central to the War Room concept.
anyone care to bet that Bristol's wedding to Levi will be scheduled for AFTER the election?
Bristol will not be marrying this hormone-addled loser, that much you can take to the bank, unless Palin is even more cruel than circumstances to date suggest.
And her kid? well. Bristol's "choice" to keep the baby may change after the election. It'll be over before she has her child. although, I'm guessing Palin would keep the kid and raise it in her family rather than adopt it out..that said, knowing good, old Levi is the father might be just a tad annoying.
This is so great, I can't believe it. America LOVES soap operas. This is all anyone will be talking about. GOP, party of cheap melodrama. Democrats, party of gravitas and leadership. That's how it's looking right now.
