I am perpetually baffled by the profound minivan bigotry displayed by males of the species... "it's a girl car" "I can't drive a minivan!"
It's as if you'd asked them to parade naked down Rodeo Drive at noon on a sunny Saturday.
Totally stupid, is what it is. Minivans are better than SUVs for EVERY, SINGLE use to which SUVs are put, except one. Offroading.
And how many SUVs are taken off-road, or used regularly in snow or mud or on steep gravel inclines? Practically none, that's how many.
why a person would buy an SUV instead of a minivan is not far to seek: guys who drive minivans are simply worried about the size of their dicks. They want to feel like they're driving a macho car, and many SUVs (esp. GM products), are designed to be oversized-gas-guzzling monsters to assuage the neuroses of millions of men who worry about their dick-size.
Driving a minivan is impossible for these men. Even though a minivan makes more sense than an SUV at just about any point.
Minivans handle better. They hold LOTS more stuff, and more people. A good minivan handles as well as a quality japanese sedan and has plenty of power.
SUVs are useless compared to a minivan.
It's all about the dick-size. Or, in the case of women, it's all about their worries about their driving skills. Or vanity. Vanity infects both genders when it comes to the minivan/SUV divide.
Pathetic. Why anyone would drive an SUV when you could drive a minivan instead...if you REALLY have stuff or people to haul regularly, is beyond me.
Now, if you don't haul stuff, and you still buy an SUV, that's just pure neurosis at work.
"you know, Himmler had the BEST of intentions setting up all those death camps. He had a good heart."
I know, I know. This equivalency is increasingly regarded as invalid, but that's only because it's too close for comfort.
Somehow I doubt that Prosecutors Jackson and Shawcross would have been much moved by the "did it with a good heart" argument.
The fact that othewise intelligent people are actually trying to make this fly right now just suggests how ashamed they really are about it. Why else would you try to lay such a con job on people who obviously will see right through it? The public? it won't care. This is for the Village.
Villagers..here's a newsflash: yer not convincing anyone with this bullshit.
Phooey.
with regard to comments from viewers after you were on Fox...THE STUPID, IT BURNS! ARRGHHHKLLDNC....
probably the last time the Democratic Party was anywhere close to what I'd like to see, it ran Adlai Stevenson for President..or, really a better fit, when the Dems ran George McGovern for President, they were about as close to what I'd like to see as they've ever been.
FDR's Dems were hopelessly racist, and, in fact, the only way FDR was able to ram his social programs through congress was by agreeing to do nothing on Civil Rights.
far as I'm concerned (and, yes, I'm just one little grunt out here, part of the Great Unwashed, the Teeming Millions, as the fictional but fun Cecil Adams has it), as far as I'm concerned, all of us who love America--or could love it again, if it was a much better place--have a lot of work to do, and a long way to go, before the Dem party, let alone our Government, looks even remotely like something a true Progressive, and true Liberal could approve of.
In short, Obama's election is merely the beginning of a long, long battle to take back our country from the racists, the bigots, the corporate aristos and political con-men who have taken it from us. the Left blogosphere is crucial to this effort. If it fails, we all fail, and the randian corporatists will rule us now and forever, amen.
Realistically, I doubt we will ever triumph the way Rove and Bush and Cheney did. This country is too full of ignorant yahoos for a true progressive mandate to ever get a lot of traction. But, we have to fight to prevent the worst excesses of corporate greed against the people...of Southern bullshit against the people. Of lousy government against the people. All the people. The fight will never end, because the aristos and monarchists keep right on multiplying, and if no-one fights them, we'll find that Shrub was just a hors d'oeuvre.
