the wusses become the bullies...
[Read the article: If only Newt Gingrich were president]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Yeah, these guys are just like the classic high-school bully.
But, what do you think they were in High School? I'm guessing they're the guys who barely got out of gym class alive... I'm sure there are a few exceptions, but Newt and Grover, and all the rest of them act like a bunch of wusses who now get to act like bullies.
It's about as pathetic as it could be. Too bad they have to take out their neurotic problems on the entire planet... we'd all be better off if they'd just go see a good shrink for awhile.

@elephantman--what the hell planet are you living on???
[Read the article: The real Fox News Democrats]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]elephantman wrote:
it had damn well better also hire Bill Kristol, Bernard Goldberg and Peggy Noonan as "Senior News Analysts", with equal time. If NPR is going to provide time for an Amy Goodman radio show, it should have a Laura Ingram radio show too.
*****
all three of those "analysts"--and especially Bill Kristol--are intellectually dishonest lightweights who don't *deserve* any larger soapbox than they already have.
See, Elephantman, if you actually take someone like Bill Kristol seriously, then I can't possibly take you seriously, because, frankly, there's something wrong with anyone who could take him seriously. I mean, like, wrong in the head.
I'm tempted to mis-cite that homicidal commie Nikita Kruschev and say "we will bury you" because intellectual dishonesty of the kind Kristol trafficks in on a daily basis cannot possibly last. I hope, anyway. My hope has not been achieved...but I can keep hoping. History will bury the Bill Kristols of our time. It'll take awhile, but it'll happen.
There was a time when Gen. Douglas Haig (the genius who started the Third Battle of Ypres) was considered a hero, instead of the murderous incompetent he actually was. It took awhile, but the verdict of history is in. And Dougie clearly loses. Kristol will too. And all his ilk.

psst...don't tell Elephantman..this is just between us
[Read the article: The real Fox News Democrats]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I've been reading Elephantman's other posts on this thread and I've come to the reluctant conclusion that the man is hopelessly deluded, and not worth our time.
I have better things to do or I would start citing various things he's said and eviscerate them...but why? I have a life. I like to think so anyway.
Based on my reading in the last 15 minutes, I'd say Elephantman is intellectually dishonest (*there's* a big surprise), somewhat incoherent logically, and determined NEVER to be wrong about anything. Whatever wrong means to him.
He, and his posts, are a colossal waste of time, and I'm gonna stop reading this entire thread right now. And if you value your time, you will too.
Elephant-baby, from here on in I'm gonna do my best to ignore you. Not because I'm "afraid" of what you say, but because what you say makes very little sense, most of the time...and I think the reason for that is you are very far to the right... you've entirely lost your sense of direction (I know, you don't think so..that's part of the problem)..you believe many things about reality that are simply not true...you are lost down the rabbit hole, and we can't help you, dude.
The reason we want to defeat the kinds of people you vote for, is because you are all profoundly out of touch with basic reality. I'm sure you function quite well in your world. Badly deluded people can do that. But if you want to start arguing with people who live in reality, expect to be ignored, eventually.
and, I know, you couldn't care less what I think. That's cool. But it doesn't invalidate the message.

oil field exploitation
[Read the article: The missing link in Mexico's declining oil production]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]One big problem with "modern technology" is that it results in a fair amount of oil being left in the ground, unrecoverable.
If Cantarell and, more importantly, Ghawar, had been allowed to produce oil at a much slower rate at the wellhead, quite a bit more oil could be extracted. Ghawar has been so badly abused by seawater injection that it will probably peak well before it might have otherwise.
In short, if we had extracted oil from these fields more slowly, there would probably have been more ultimately recoverable oil to extract. Our greed has actually deprived us of oil we might have otherwise had.
As for the poster who claims that "peak-oil" is a fraud...tell me, dude, when you are proven completely wrong, will you be posting here to apologize? I think we'll both live long enough to see that you are as wrong as you can be.

speechless
[Read the article: The Limbaugh-Cheney two-step]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I'm grateful to Salon for giving me enough Limbaugh to have a clear sense of what he's about.
Sure, I've listened to him. A little. Not much though. I can't take it. He's a dishonest putz, from first word to last, distorting with every word that drops out of his face. I vowed not to waste time on such people a long time ago, but, I admit, it's good to know the enemy. I just can't face it. Were I to listen to him for very long, I'd blow a blood vessel.
This particular exchange left me utterly speechless. Time was, when this kind of stuff was considered fringe lunacy. Now it's front-and-center. The McCarthy-ites in power. Funny how the spiritual descendents of Joe M. never gave up.
I just hope we are able to push these lunatics out to the fringe once again, and soon. And keep them there. To me, Rush himself is the moral equivalent of Alfred Rosenberg, and his radio show not dissimilar in form and function to the "Volkischer Beobachter." And if you think I'm exaggerating, go read a few issues.
Rush is a dangerous liar. The fact that our society has not rejected him and everything he stands for is an indictment of all of us as much as it is an indictment of him and his ilk.
