I have several cartoons on "My Favorites" list of a certain licensed character. Now the company that owns this character did not make this cartoon, they simply licensed the use of it out to ANOTHER company several years ago to make a series out of. Here's the problem, niether the company that owns the character or the company that made the cartoon has done anything with it in the nearly 20 years since it aired. You can't find it on DVD and as near as I can tell, aside from a few trade publications, nobody from either camp has acknowledged it's existence in all that time. For all intents and purposes, they have forgotten about it. So my question is; who owns it? Nobody has stepped forward to claim this cartoon as their own (and from what I understand, even the company that licensed the character is having other legal problems with what could be certain elements of this show) or done a whole lot to even admit it exists. It is under the radar, so to speak.
Nice to see the republican party doesn't believe in "special labels" for people. Aren't they the ones always complaining about groups who want special names for themselves, you know, African Americans, Asian Americans, Native Americans, that sort of thing? (I would have included gays, but they DO have a special name for them, Ann Coulter uses it to describe John Edwards)
I have heard three theories as to why the republicans turned it down in the first place:
1) Fox News asked them to as payback for the dems snubbing them.
2) They didn't want to have to face questions about their blind support for Iraq from non-republicans.
3) They were afraid the kinds of questions their supporters would ask would be so crazy, that it would turn off regular voters from the republican party. Perhaps for good. (This one's my favorite!)
I'm less concerned about what Bush may or may not learn from this war, as I am about what our fellow Americans learn from it. My fear is that the answer is nothing. Enough people voted for this man TWICE to make him president. What does this say about our fellow Americans? It says that we don't have the capacity to see incompetence when we look at it. It says we care more about someone who makes us feel good then someone who will be honest with us.
Micheal Moore made a good point when he said that Americans were turning on the war not because it was unnecessary, but because we were LOSING. Had it gone well, we would not be asking ANY questions now, and Iran would already be overthrown. We learned nothing from Vietnam and we have made the same mistake over again. How many more times are we going to do that?
Did they show clips from the "Watchmen" movie coming out? I saw a commercial on TV that suggested that they did. My screen name on another forum is "Dr. Manhattan". So I have to know, DID THEY SHOW CLIPS FROM "WATCMEN"?!!!
You hate the democrats because they are "immoral"? Why, because we don't resort to gay bashing? That goes to show you how shallow the republicans definition of "morality" actually is. Incidently, I heard that MySpace, which is owned by NewsCorp., same as Fox, had to be FORCED to release the names of sex offenders! Enjoy your phony "morality"! In the immortal words of another NewsCorp. property: "Ha! Ha!"
As for why the right hates Hillary so much, the best answer I could ever get from these people is that she is "power hungry" (Gee, that only describes, what, 80-90% of Washington?). So much of the republican platform seems to require an already preconcieved world view to "get". It's not something that can just be explained to potential "newbies" looking for a reason to join the party ("Family Values" anyone?). I guess this is just another one of those things that you have to be "in the know" to "get". Perhaps this is why they seem to have trouble with young people.
Not to sound cynical, but so what? I'm not doubting all of the claims in this article are true, but if congress isn't going to do anything about it what good is it to point it out? We elected these people to hold Bush accountable and restore some semblance of checks and balances. They have not, and now it may be another couple generations before we know the full extent of the damage this marionette president has caused or enabled. And the congress wonders why their poll numbers are lower then the idiot who gets his orders from his invisible friend Jesus.
and the right wingers are going nuts on the comments page! "Waa! Waa! Trial lawyer! Waa! Waa!" They even went so far as to make fun of Elizabeth Edwards cancer. That must be all the "christians" the republican party is so proud of. If they are acting like that, they must be afraid of him!
