He's out the door in a week. Meanwhile the rest of the country will spend the next three decades fighting about his legacy the way my parents generation has done with Vietnam. Thanks a lot, douche. Who are these 34% dead enders? Their my nieghbors and let's just say their standards for success are not Earthly based if that gives you any idea. These are the same people who think Sarah Palin would be so qualified. Yes, the right really does want a theocracy. Or at least their voters do.
The Family Guy version is still the best ever.
I think he knows he's spewing bullshit. I don't think he cares. The rights mantra is "never admit your wrong even after it's been proven to you". Why do you think we're still fighting about evolution and global warming? He cares more about sticking it to his critics and giving his defenders more material to work with then he does about anything else. This guy is even more dangerous then Bush because at least Bush has the excuse he was/is stupid. True justice would be for another final heart attack two weeks after leaving office.
This is the same idiot that wanted to waste taxpayer dollars holding senate hearings on the "moral decline of the culture" while ignoring real problems. He was the Sarah Palin of the nineties. He got into power gay baiting and cared about little else the whole time there.
The whole gay thing is getting old. I know this is all bullshit designed to rally the stupid base but when a so-called christian magazine starts publishing articles about
"Pig Orgies" it's time to find a new Big Evil Other. One would think that even the base would get sick of hearing about gays all the time. Next time some right wing nut job complains about the "gay lifestyle" being shoved in their face I'll tell them to take it up with Fox News since they seem more fixated on gay sex then the gays themselves are.
Expect some wingnut site to link to this and a whole slew of posters sent over to defend Bush's honor by pointing to the fact that we didn't have another terrorist attack and site that as proof that he was the greatest president ever. This man's legacy will be with us for the next 30 to 40 years as my generation will fight about it the same way my parents generation fought (and continues to fight) about Vietnam. I don't look forward to the next couple decades of this.
I didn't watch, I didn't see a reason to. Unless he admits the war in Iraq was based on outright lies and turns himself in for it, I see no reason to give this man the time of day. The best we can do is defend president Obama everytime he comes under fire and point out that he didn't start wars based on lies to those sore loser dead enders who still want to see Bush as some sort of literal divine being.
Excellent post. One of the things I've wondered about for a while is how much he really could have gotten away with had 9/11 never happened. It's easy to say it was his crutch but expectations were low even before then yet nobody seemed to care. It was like the reasons people voted for him in the first place were the elephant in the room (no pun intended). Nobody wanted to talk about how this incuruious man got to be the most powerful person on Earth. The media seemed to take it easy on him even during the election and then when 9/11 did happen, he was put up on a pedastal because well, he was what we had at the time.
I too felt that night in 2000 that things just weren't going to go our way, that the bubbas were finally getting control of this country and they were going to dismantle any progress that we made not just in the past eight years but possibly going back to the sixties. It was like there was something in the air that they had to have thier time. It wasn't just the Nader voters, it was like all the shit that talk radio had been spewing during the Clinton years had finally found it's influence and all those peopel waiting to undo the sixties were ready to take over.
Growing up in the bible belt I can tell you that even to this day I don't fully understand the mindset that put him in office but I know that for many of these people, symbolism is more important then actual accomplishment. Perhaps that is why they aren't losing any sleep over those embroys or soldiers that were just killed anyway. As long as the message was sent about the "right to life" and that a "bad guy" is no longer in power, the mistakes are not as important. Perhaps this is why they have no problem impeaching Clinton for a sex act while looking the other way to the fact that nothing we were told about Iraq turned out to be true. The sex act is "evil" and the invasion was at least well meaning.
But your right of course, ALL of the country looked the other way and we did it because it was the civil thing to do and the bubbas took advantage of that.
the sooner we can pull the plug on this crap! If republicans are so worried about wasteful government spending they might want to get their own house in order first. Out tax dollars are going to this idiot?
Much of the initial coverage about Fort Hood turned out to be wrong. Is there anything wrong with that?
