Original article: W. and the damage done

See, what did I tell you...

The paid trolls are out in full force. The best part about articles like this one is I get to skip half the letters! I know it's frusttrating but just remember, conservatives always lie, always.

I've seen this shit at my local papers site

The wingers are absolutely terrified that the evil dems are going to bring back the fairness doctrine despite the fact that they can't actually point to any qoutes of anyone of them saying so. The irony of this is that when it was first proposed to get rid of it the right was the ones most opposed to the idea. Look, in a decade radio itself may end up being as endangered as CDs are today thus making the dispute irrelevant. Of course Rush and company know better then to suggest such a thing to their audiences.

Original article: Sarah Palin is not bitter

We need to take this seriously.

Not to poke a hole in all the fun but the fact of the matter is this woamn is very dangerous. There are a lot of very stupid, yet very powerful people who sympathize with her and see themselves as victims of the invisible elite menace that is educated folk. This woman was choosen for a reason and while sane people saw through her right away a lot of that had to do with the fact that there were more people involved in politics this time around then there normally are. We may not be so lucky in four years. We may very well have to get used to the idea that George W. Bush represents the future of the GOP and there are a lot of people out there who truly beleive this is the type of person who should be in charge because he is like them and not an over educated "elite".

It is a sick look at the future but it needs to be taken seriously. Speaking as someone who lives in the bible belt I can tell you that this kind of "thinking" is encouraged by the churches and talk radio. An entire movement has been built around trying to undo the cultural changes of the sixites and the election of George W. Bush was the culmination of that. Now it is being transfered into a movement against over intellectualism and a percieved "threat" to the right to hold on to old prejiduces.

Original article: Quote of the day

Speaking as a comic book geek...

I can assure Ms. Schlussel that she is making a mountain out of a molehill. For starters, comic sales have declined for decades. And in the past year, Spidey would be one of the best examples ever since Joe Quaseda undid his marriage. Second of all, and there's no pleasant way of saying this, there is no incentive to support the GOP for the comic industry. Comics are the last bastion of entertainment that doesn't have a ratings system in place. Social conservatives have been pushing for one for years. Censorship=portrayed as bad guys. That's how the entertainment industry works.

As for the rest of her rant, she's on her own there. Obama is a popular figure, he won the POPULAR vote (I know that for republicans that doesn't mean much), and you can't fault Marvel for wanting to get on that bandwagon. If the right refuses to acknowledge this then Marvel or DC certainly don't owe them anything. If she also chooses not to see the difference between WWII and Iraq, then that is her choice but if a democrat had been the one to invade she would probably be praising both companies for their criticism.

Lastly, and I feel like this should be obvious, certain professions attract certain personality traits. There's a good reason why the military has such a hard time with gays. It's the same reason there are so many gays in the acting profession. Creative industries attract more socially liberal people. That's just how life is.

A bigot is a bigot

I don't think it really matters what color the person is, the attitutde is still the same. They oppose gay marriage because they hate gays. All these churches are teaching the same thing regardless of the color ofhte congregents skin. I don't see anyone talking about the real issue here which is the fact that this had no business being put on the ballot in the first place. Any gay rights supporter who thought it was a good idea to do so was an idiot. If segregation had been put to a vote it would still be on the books today. This cannot be treated as just another election issue. Looking at it as a race issue is taking the discussion away from the larger point.

As for the vandalism, I say good. If you support hate, you deserve to lose everything you own. And besides, people have a right to know what businesses to support and which ones not to.

I'm concerned he's not invoking enough political stereotypes.

Let's see, hiding behind children: Check. Proping up the sick and elderly: Check. Completly dodging the issue he's in trouble for: Double check. This is the kind of stuff that TV shows use to make fun of corrupt politicians. And not in a serious manner either. Maybe this guy really is delusional.

I'm curious what he thinks his future is. I read that he actually expected to be president one day. I assume riding Obama's coat tails the whole way. When, not if, he is impeached is he going to try and go on Oprah and tell "his side of the story"? Will he try and write a book? Will he spend the rest of his life trying to clear his name assuming that anybody cares? Does he really believe that he will simply walk and go on to be president or is this just an attempt to force the legislature to drag him out kicking and screaming because he got caught? If he can't hold on to all that power, he'll make as much noise as possible being forced to give it up. If your already a goner, why not invoke every political stereotype there is.
