Namely, why didn't either the republicans (who are admittedly much more organized in the smear department then the democrats) or the Hillary campaign challenge his eligibility during the campaign if there was some sort of REAL proof here. The republicans especially would have no qualms about taking this all the way to the SC. Yet they didn't. Now, when your ready to admit the rumor is horseshit, then comeback and we can debate actual policy. But don't insult our intelligences by continuing to pretend that you actually believe it. Sadly, you are right. According to John Deans book, Conservatives Without Conscience, the plot to impeach Clinton began almost from the day he took office (maybe before). Now we are seeing the Obama equivalent. Four years of conspiracies that will never be conirmed but still won't go away. It doesn't matter that no evidence actually exists that he took the oath of office on the Koran because some guy who knows some guy swears he saw it. That's good enough for these people. A blow job gets you impeached while starting a war based on, at best, flimsy intelligence, gets you worshipped by 20% of the country until the day you die.

I fear for the future of this country. The willfull ignorance and deliberate lack of intelligence isn't something that will go away with a single election. I honestly don't think Gore winning in 2000 would have helped much in that department either, sadly (though we certainly wouldn't have been bogged down in an intractable war in Iraq, that's for sure). All we can do at this point is just keep fending them off one at a time. It's not like they can actually back up their claims with anything anyway.
