Gay marriage opponents are equal to HItler

Now, notice the language that I used there. I didn't say that I hated gay marriage opponents, I just said that they were equal to Hitler. Hitler opposed gay marriage, they also oppose gay marriage. So technically they are equal to Hitler. This is how they get around accusations of hatred. By playing semantics with words. They claim they "love" gays while all the while claiming that AIDS is "God's just punishment" and blaming things like Katrina and 9/11 on them. That's also why they feel they should have laws made against them and used as political puppets for people who have no stake in the issue one way or the other. But as long as they don't specifcally say they hate gays, they can still get around the accusations of hatred. That's how semantics work. People like ehillesum are hoping that your too stupid to see that. Of course it doesn't usually take much proding to get them to expose their hatred in other ways, as we all got to see.

BTW: here's a response that someone posted in my local paper to a letter about homosexuality today:

"Why don't we just take the word unnatural out of the english language? I mean if a man, looking at another man's hairy butt and finding true love, isn't unnatural, what is?"

And they wonder why we don't beleive them when they say they don't hate gays.

The Christian conservatives, who are all about the "mom should stay home with the kids", would eviscerate a Democrat female who did what Palin is doing.

And the fact that the media hasn't pointed this out is exactly why they are completely useless. This double standard has to end. If Obama gets taken to task for selecting Biden for his foriegn policy experience then McCain should be scrutinized for pandering to the christian right.

You know what would be nice, if Salon had a consistant position!

Yesterday we were hearing what a breakthrough for women this was and today she is a hack appointee who was set up to get all those stupid PUMAS. This is why the right keeps beating us, they can stay on message all the time. Yes, this is tokenism of the worst order, and a lot of stupid people will fall for it. Just like they fell for "someone you want to have a beer with" as a legitamate criteria to run a country eight years ago. But this time my fear is that those who fall for it will be some of our own who care more about gender and identity politics then they do about the issues.

"At the very least, let us hope that the Republicans will no longer complain so bitterly about affirmative action, since they have taken that policy to its absurd conclusion in what may be the most fateful decision of this campaign."

Do you really give them that much credit? Their own voters are either too stupid to see that or so desperate to stay in power they'll happily ignore it. And of course the media will let it slide also.

Clapham

Gay bashers don't get to accuse others of bigotry.

Um...Dobson by backing legislation against them. Your defending the guy and you don't even know his postions? I assume you agree with his postions or you wouldn't be defending him therefore making you as bad as he is.

Your surprised by this why?

This is how the repbulican party works, talk about "less government", then use that hated federal government to go after anyone who disagrees wiht them. Why do you think talk radio has spent the last 20 years adccusing the media of a liberal bias? So they won't cover stories like this.

You know what would make this day even better?

If Dobsons's gay lover came out too.

Monday, September 1, 2008 07:02 PM

Now come the trolls...

to try and claim that things are getting better therefore your wrong. All the while ignoring the fact that we had no reason to go over there in the first place.

Thursday, September 4, 2008 05:16 PM

This surprises you why?

Most of the wedge issues, like gay marraige, that the republicans have been winning on for the last fifteen years at least were created in 1992 because they didn't want to deal with the economy then either. The fact that they don't want to talk about them now just fits their pattern. As for that drinking game, I have one: How about everytime the media refuses to correct a lie that's put forward tonight, you take a drink. You would probably be dead within the first half hour.

"and I'm NOT suggesting that Biden shoot her from a helicopter.."

Well, now, your no fun!

Another poster already pointed this out on another thread...

but "Elitist" is a substitute word for "Jew" or "Faggot".
