You certainly have every right to your opinion, but don't complain if we "liberals" reject you for supporting discrimination. To complain that we do not consider you one of us, as you first post did, is to ignore something we see as a very large problem. Villifying and making laws against a minority group just because they are different. Yes, we have a very large problem with that. If it seems like we are making too much of this, you try being on the recieving end of some major religions hate speeches and exploited for someone else political gain.
The article makes very clear that part of the christian marriage movement involves gay bashing. Given this, you can't say we are making something out of nothing.
As far as I know, Winehouse has no kids and Brittany was at least married before she got knocked up so what do these two have to do with the Glouster Girls? The answer is nothing. This was not some "moral" community looking to chastise these girls, they are using them as an exuse to blame pop culture for all of societies problems yet again. This is why conservatives, especially social conservatives, are a joke. They get up on their high horse and lecture everyone else on how to live their lives and to take responsibilty for their actions but the moment they get the opportunity they look for any excuse to blame pop culture. The label "slut" and "whore" are even more examples of the double standard in regards to morality that these people put out there (that and the gay bashing).
Your a Klan member.
"the onetime ally of the Christian right confessed a hitherto-unknown devotion to the philosophy of hyper-atheist Ayn Rand."
This alone should make the "no government" crowd suspect this guys motives. Many of these states would pass draconian sex and drug laws if they thought that the federal govenment couldn't interfere. If you can't advance the culture wars in congress, why not make it easier for the home teams to do it? This is why I think many of these libertarians don't know what they are signing on for if the states are allowed to do whatever they want. It's not less government if it only stops at the state level.
Says the homophobic bigot. Oh, but I guess that's YOUR sickness.
Helms used racism, homophobia, and phony outrage over "immorality" to get elected all in an attempt to distract the public from the real immoral behavior of himself and his party. I would love to see how all you "moralists" who want to see all gays rounded up and shipped off to death camps justify the fact that he was a whore for the tobacco lobby. Someone is always a saint when they share your enemies right? No matter what else they do.
While we're on the subject, what is your people's obsession with communism? I know your living in the past but even you guys must have gotten the memo that the cold war is over. And certainly I'm not the only one who finds it ironic that the same people who are so worried about being oppressed by fictional communists also support religous oppression in the form of the religious right. You guys really aren't seeing the similiarities here?
"Dear Fight the Theocracy:
I believe that communists / marxists / nazis / state-worshippers are alive and kicking when I read letters such as yours.
The imagary of boxcars and stark raving mad nazis living in Alabama are a silly attempt of pinning the nazi label on those who are against a leviathan state dictating what is right and wrong from above. I'll go one step further ... your response is downright Stalinist.
I do not advocate harm towards gays. I also think smoking is bad, but I do not advocate the mass extermination of smokers.
Please throw "the Nazis are coming!" warning a little bit harder -- it makes you sound oh so eloquent!"
My my, someone is on the defensive! So when you don't have a rebuttle your strategy is to simply call people "marxist"? Weak!
The idea that you people don't believe in government is laughable on it's face given that everytime you don't like something you try and make some constitutional amendment banning it. Don't beleive me? What about gay marriage? Flag burning? Or thirty years of trying to abolish abortion based on nothing more then some obscure line from the bible (seriously, what IS your people's obsession with gays anyway?)? You were the one who tried to play the moral superiority card by pointing out your beleif in God as though that makes you more qualified to have an opinion then everyone else (implying I guess that all liberals must not beleive in God? Taking the "Marxist" paranoia a little far are we?). Oh, and you were also the one who said liberals shouldn't have the right to vote. Now whose being "marxist"?
You openly said that your letter was to get the goat of liberals, I guess a little taste of your own medicine is exactly what you needed.
