So if you are a woman, you HAVE to like and dislike certain things? Becuase that is exactly what it sounds like these groups are saying. Why is it so hard to beleive that just because someone else has a double "x" chromosome, they couldn't possibly have interests that differ from yours? This is different then what those religious groups are saying about abortion, how? Y'know, men are bad about things like what it takes to be a "real" man, but we don't have any stupid rules that say if your a guy you can't possibly like this or that. We may make fun of each other about what we like, but we don't automatically assume that the guy doesn't really like it and is trying to appease his lady friend just becuase we don't understand it.
Now, is really trying to oppress women here?
I think our society makes too big a deal out of porn for the same reason they made too big a deal out of the Janet Jackson/Justin Timberlake thing a few years back, the oversexualization of EVERYTHING! This is not an illegitemate complaint. We, as a society, tend to use sex for selling everything from music to food to cars to anything else. So naturally who gets the brunt of the blame? The porn industry, the one business that is at least selling what it uses to advertise with.
I understand that most women (and some men) don't like to see a chick get banged by two guys at once and then eat their loads, but is it really some infringment on you if someone else does? And yes, most of the guys in the films look like they just broke Rikers, and the women look like the they went into a doctor and asked to look like Barbie, but so what? Most of what the rest of pop culture sells looks fake too. Is Tony Stark both building a robotic suit of armor and then using it to fight terrorists any more believable? Or an eight year old losing his parents in an alley and spending the rest of his life fighting crime as a gaint bat? Is that somehow more believable?
Our society accepts at face value that these things are phony and ridiculous yet still accept them as part of the culture. Yet, when the talk turns to sex, somehow there is a "right" way to portray it and a "wrong" way. And the James Dobsons of the world aren't the only ones who think so. The fake tits and the milk gallon loads of sperm are just as ridiculous as putting on a rubber bat suit (with nipples) and expecting to have full rang of movement to fight crime. But it's fantasy, it's not real. Why can't our society apply the same level of disbeleif porn instead of saying that it sets a bad example or that those who like it should be condemned for not liking the "right" kind of sex?
If we would just say that it's just as stupid and your a moron for beleiving it instead of trying to ban or "fix" it then maybe we would have an easier time living with it. Instead we condemn instead of educate. We educate our kids about not putting on a cape and jump off the roof like Superman, so why not educate them about the difference between porn and actual sex? I would love to be able to fly, but i'm not stupid enough to think it can happen. Just as I'm not stupid enough to think I'm gonna get to bang Jenna Jameson. It simply isn't realistic.
I personally get bored with porn very quickly becuase it all looks the same after a while. How many times can you get a closeup of a dick in a pussy and a load getting shot into a womans mouth before it gets old (for me, the answer is 3)? When we apply the same standard to porn that we do to comics, or horror movies, or anything else we accept to be fake and unrealistic, then we may finally be able to enjoy, or at least see, it on the level it was intended.
Oh, wait, that IS Mormon lingere. Never mind.
"Barrack Obama thinks those filthy sodomites should be treated as human, he doesn't represent OUR values!" This is only a slight exaggeration.
