I suppose in your world two men could never actually love each other and express, I don't know, their love by having anal sex.

That is exactly correct. Go back and look at how many times the gay haters addressed the issue of same sex ATTRACTION. The answer is NONE. To them, gay people don't actually love each other becuase that would mean thinking about how they got that way in the first place. So it is just easier to focus solely onthe physical aspect raather then the emotional or they might acutally see them as human.

I have been fighting with gay haters for three and a half years and not once did they ever bring the issue of actual attraction up. It was all physical. I can count on one hand the number of times I got a response when I did bring it up. It is proof that they have given this issue no real thought. Their complaint is always some variation on "Well, it just isn't built for that". Using braod stereotypes about AIDS is the only way to justify sticking their noses in where it doesn't belong.

Of course ALL sex comes with SOME risk and steps can be taken to minimize that risk but what fun would acknowledging that be? It is just easier and more fun to paint all gays as irresponsible perverts that don't have real relationships. Sex and personal responsibility are two different things. One can be gay and have sex and still be responsible. The moment the gay haters acknowledge this, their reasons for caring aobut this issue go away. Then they will have to find someone else to hate.

So what?

"yeah thats true but except that maybe, just maybe, kids are in the house while dad and dad are crossing swords or mom and mom are milking each other...awesome future! the beginning of the end!"

And maybe they taught their kids respect for others of different sexual orientations. Of course since it's not your life it's not your business one way or the other is it?

History will judge Russert...

...and in regards to the Iraq war, it will not be kind, and that is true of all the MSM. But for God sakes THE MAN DIED YESTERDAY!!! Can we please maintain some decorum of decency and civility? His family may not be reading this, but you can bet the right wing blogs are and I'm sure someone at NBC. Is this the face of the anti-war movement we want them to see? Mocking a dead man before the body turns cold? Hate is the specialty of the right. The man wasn't Falwell or Ken Lay who deserved to be mocked before even being put in their caskets. Let's keep things in perspective and save the grave dancing for when Cheney finally runs out of pacemakers.

Um...shouldn't we be taking item #1 a little more seriously?

Not that debates about journalistic ethics aren't interesting and all, but these people called for anyone who disagreed with them to be shot! If we are really serious about getting right wing hate radio off the air, it seems to me we're going to have to start making a lot more noise about this kind of stuff and a simple mention in a "various items" thread isn't the best way to do that. This should get it's own thread and it should be sent to every news outlet and congressional leader in the country. I have no doubt in my mind that hate radio is largely responsible for republican dominance over the past decade and a half and the main reason why the democrats in congress are afraid to stand up to Bush. Are we serious about removing their stranglehold or not?

If so then we need to hit them at their strongest point and that is on the radio. Statements like these are our bread and butter and we need to take them seriously. Someone upthread suggested this:

"I'm not a lawyer (but I have tremendous respect for all the lawyers, both inside and outside the government, who are fighting for our beloved Constitution), so can someone please tell me why the government can't revoke the licenses of media outlets which incite violence which is (as I understand it) NOT protected speech?"

This needs to be prioirty one for the Obama administration. Not Iraq, not oil, not even the economy. Because remember, they are the main reason Bush is in office and the only reason the dems are afraid to stand up to him. While their at it, they need to start looking into churches who openly endorse republican policies on the air! It's time to start taking away the rights unfair advantage and shinning a light on what talk radio REALLY says! I bet all those disaffected millions who don't bother to vote would find calls for dissenters to be killed most interesting!

they could, they would close down Fox news and put conservatives in gulags.

Um...aren't you the party that accused anyone who disagreed with the war of treason? Who are trying to force gays back into the closet? Who are declaring America a "christian nation" becuase your so insecure in your faith that you have to have everything around you reinforce it? I eagerly await your response to these accusations, coward.

I see the trolls are out in full force today...

No gay kids to beat up I guess. If you think they are funny here, you should have heard their flimsy excuses for keeping sodomy laws on the books on the other thread. Nice to see their sticking to their "party of less government" principles! Ha! Ha! I wonder how much they would have given a democrat a free pass if they had started the war in Iraq and made all the same screw ups? I'm guessing they would have called for impeachment the next day, especially if their last name had been Clinton.

BTW: I have no doubt that Bush didn't know about WMDs, but given that his entire staff belonged ot PNAC, a group that had planned the overthrow of Saddam since 1998, the working with terrorists and WMDs excuse goes right out the window. But of course since they think Bush was appointed by God, he could drown a baby and they would still try and make it look like the kids fault.
