Two things stick out for me...

Like most of the other posters, I have my doubts about the legitamacy of this poll.

1. We have no way of knowing how many I-will-only-vote-republican types actually visit Beliefnet. It is, after all, for people of all kinds of faith. Not exactly something they would sign on for.

2. The media image, fair or not, has been known for a while now. It does not surprise me that many of the republican only types would be sick of being seen as a bunch of gay bashers and control freaks (especially now that they are finally coming under REAL criticism in the media for it and competing for shelf space at the book stores) and would add to the list of the BIG TWO just to make it look like they care about other things as well. Again, regardless of whether it's true or not.

Jim Wallis, in what few appearances on the Daily Show and other places I have seen him, strikes me as being overly optimistic about the demise of the Religious Right, as are many others. These people aren't as stupid as they get accused of being. You don't get control of every major televangelist ministry in America and own an entire political party by being stupid. So the idea that a very unscientific poll might be wrong? Not outside the realm of possibility.

Ah, the party of "moral absolutes"...

shows it's true face yet again! I wonder what Jesus think of that name?

-- xychro, you hate gays...

because your trying to deny them the same rights and benefits you have.

Isn't that like saying...

that christians should have to take the responsibility for the actions of Fred Phelps and his ilk? I wonder how many of Cinnamon's readers would be okay with that?

The party of "moral absolutes" strikes again!

Not to be outdone, I once saw a NASCAR bumper sticker the read:

Fans

Against

Gordon

Get it? Isn't that just hilarious? Conservatives and their acronyms, it's aodrable, isn't it?

I think your all missing the point here...

The issue isn't about whether or not "cunt" is an insult to women, the issue is the fact that the same party that is selling, buying, and promoting these shirts are the same party that constantly complains about the "moral decline of America". They complained that "Brokeback Mountain" was "immoral" and are worried about the "coursening of the culture" but will happily parade around in public with a shirt that openly has what could easily be considered a cuss word and is without doubt a childish insult on it. The real issue here is hypocracy.

We can debate the merits of the word itself, but let's not lose sight of what this is really about.

I little full disclosure.

I came here expecting to see a bunch of burned out old hippies defending some new age bullshit that they could never actually get to work in the real world but were still adamant about holding onto. Instead what I see is the REAL face of the medical establishment in America. People seek comfort in "spiritual" healing because, usually, they can't afford the real thing. I wonder if this kind of thing is so promanant in Europe? I'm guessing not as much. This is the natural outgrowth of a society run by the market. You only get what you can pay for, and if you can't afford it, well, the market must not have had any use for you anyway.

Why do people embrace mind-over-matter medicine? Because in most cases, it's the only kind they can get their hands on!

If you think our side is bad...

look over the fence at the republicans, at least their not having any more luck then we are. Let's all be thankful for that!

Does this mean that Bill O'Rielly has to stop calling himself a "culture warrior"?

Since his network supported the most SOCIALLY LIBERAL of all the republican candidates! Seriously, when are the "culture warriors" going to figure out that their entire cause was created by buisiness people to distract them from-well-the business people?

Bush has one foot out the door after 8 years of doing nothing for these people and yet they still defend him tooth and nail. What little of Fox I have seen really does come across as an insult to intelligence. Do they honestly think that they can just accuse anyone who questions the war of "hating America" and that will address any concerns or answer any questions? To all those in the repulican camp who think it's unfair that we liberals might think your stupid, your acceptance of Fox News plays a very large role in that perception. Perhaps more then you realize.

I would like nothing more then to believe that their days are numbered, but I have been hearing the same thing about Rush and his fellow travellers for a decade now. As I am with the existance of God, I'll believe it when I see it.

Perhaps these fine upstanding white men would like to explain...

how exactly these "Islamofascists" are supposed to get here in large enough numbers to conquer the US in the first place? If some of us "liberals" are having a hard time buying this "threat" perhaps that's why. And if Huckabee is any indicater, the conservatives don't know either.

To all you conservatives who have a hard time understanding why we don't take this more seriously, here's the thing: you people have been creating phony "threats" to America for decades. From gays to mexicans to feminists to universal healthcare, you can only cry wolf so many times before we tune you out. Until Al-Queda gets it's own navy, this will continue to look like another exagerrated threat for your own gain.

I want revenge for 9/11 as much as you do, but treating the terrorists as another one of your phony boogiemen doesn't inspire a lot of confidence. Saying their under the bed proves nothing, and claiming their coming across the border in droves with no evidence just makes you look stupid. If you want to show us your serious, stop treating all muslims as the enemy and start refering to the enemy by their real name; Al-Queda. Painting with a broad brush only makes a mess.
