  • I say keep it up!

[Read the article: Help! I'm an Internet troll!]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

These hate mongers have enough bastions all to themselves on the radio and Fox News, let's not let them have anymore! To all those who say it's immature and childish, GROW UP! The very definition of freedom is at stake. The right wing will not rest until every child is force fed the bible and everyone who questions it is hauled away to the gulag. Think I'm being paranoid? Turn on Rush sometime and see for yourselves. We are at war, and not just in Iraq and Afganistan. I fight with right wingers on my local newspaper website all the time. The only reason I don't do it on the actual right wing sites is because if I did, that's all I would do all day. That, and the time needed to look up all the facts to counter their lies would be too time consuming (since there's so many of them).

We need to stand and fight, because if this election gets stolen like the last two were, it's highly unlikely that the democrats will do it for us! Keep it Green! Your doing a heckuva job!

  • Can we stop saying what a nice guy he is now?

[Read the article: Huckabee's radical religious friends]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Even Salon got in on the act. Now it's time to stop and be serious. Last time they ran an article on Huckabee, I was called paranoid for suggesting that his presidency would lead to gay death camps and the like. After reading this article, anyone want to still doubt it? Huckabee isn't as dangerous as his supporters (same thing I've said about Bush for years). I live in the bible belt, the people who all are so afraid will find this kind of thing appealing? I see them every Saturday mowing their lawns and fixing their roofs.

Many people in blue states look at Bush and ask "How could America have been so stupid?" Well, to paraphrase James Carville: "It's Jesus, stupid!" I don't think many around the world and even here at home understand just how powerful an influence churches are out here and what they are really asking for, especially in the media. And until the media starts taking this threat seriously, I fear nothing will change.

    [Read the article: Holy Constitution!]

Do you also support kicking women out of the village when their on their periods? Stoning disobedient children? Never shaving? Not eating pork? Funny how you "moralists" like to pick and choose which "sins" are most important. Always the ones that don't apply to you of course. This is why we don't take you seriously. Somebody on another forum called it "Buffet Christinaity" and I find it most apporpriate.

    Gotta villify them gays!

  • "I can't help but wonder what your so afraid of, and why you sound so much like those your talking about..."

[Read the article: Huckabee's radical religious friends]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Did you not read the article? Many of these people want to punish anyone who disobeys the bible with death and even if they don't, their still trying to roll back our freedoms. Why shouldn't we fight against that?

  • Does anyone even care about Tom Delay anymore?

[Read the article: Quote of the Day]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Why even give this guy a forum? Last I heard of him was just after he got kicked out of office. He will go down in history forgotten until 20 years from now when some historian needs a second book and writes one about him and then some PBS series does an episode about him. That will be the last anyone hears of Tom Delay. A forgotten waste.

  • I live in a red state too...

[Read the article: One part old-time religion, one part chutzpah]

and if we're going to be intellectually honest, we have to admit that we are the minority and the "I only vote for a guy based on his religion" types are the majority out here. No, it isn't fair to say that everyone in SC is a brain dead hick and yes, I'm sure that there are liberals there as well, but we are few and far between in flyover country and we need to admit it. The concerns of our big city bretheren are not unfounded. Although I wish they too would not be so quick to assume the worst about everyone out here. Some of us really are on your side guys, it's okay.

  • I want more comics for the elderly!

If only all them young whippersnappers would get real jobs like the old days! And whatever happened to Lawrence Welk?, and why can't you get diner meals for a nickel anymore? And why do all these kids listen to that noise and call it music? And...

  • See now...

    [Read the article: Opus]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

    Opus has still got it!

  • Matt Tiabii did a similiar article in Rolling Stone...

and sadly, the media didn't learn anything from it, either.

  • Playing right into Rush's hands...

[Read the article: Why campaign coverage sucks]

The talk radio machine may not have succeeded in converting all television news into a mouthpiece for the republican party like Fox, but they have certainly succeeded in making it irrelevent in every other sense. Focusing on the horse race instead of the issues is certainly their second choice.

Forget the fairness doctrine, we need to start pushing the FCC to make stronger rules regarding what qualifies as "news" and what doesn't. Even if every right wing radio station in America were to pull up stakes tomorrow we would still be left with this problem. Remember, the networks only started reporting the news to keep their license, they had to out of obligation.

  • Last time I checked...

[Read the article: Barack Obama: "Committed Christian -- Called to Bring Change"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Obama wasn't trying to change the constitution to suite his version of christianity. That alone makes him different then Huckabee. All politicians pander to religious groups (and they shouldn't, it's wrong regardless) but your question was is there a difference, the answer is yes simply given that they both want to do different things with their faith.

  • Oh those wacky neocons!

[Read the article: Tom the Dancing Bug]

Somehow I could just see them getting their own Saturday morning cartoon in the sixties. Play it up like Mr. Magoo. "He's not stupid, he's just blind" In Nate's case, it would be "He's not stupid, he just sees reality backwards." Actually, that is kind of stupid!
