Ladies and gentelmen, the REAL face of the religious right...

"God DOES love homos and we should all love homos, of course. LOVE however is not the same as sex (human relations 101 kiddies) and if one does in fact love a man, he most definitely does NOT put his penis in his rectum. That is not love, gang; that is grosssssss."

This one line is more telling about the REAL opposition to gays then any biblical reference ever could. The opposition has nothing to do with some holy book, it has to do with the fact that they think it's "grossssssssss." I always wondered why that one obscure line out of the bible was given priority status by these people while everything around it was largely ignored. Now we know. The bible is just an excuse to attack people for being different, it had nothing to do with God. I always suspected as much.

The "commie" reference is also rather telling. Saying someone isn't a REAL christian just because they don't believe in giving tax breaks to people who don't need them and letting companies do whatever they want says your more buisinessman then christian. I wonder what Jesus would think of that? Throw in the name calling, and that tenth grader statement might be closer to the truth then we realize.

This guy (boy?/man?) is what I call an Ann Coulter christian. Someone who embraces the faith for political and personal gain only and has no problem calling people childish names when that politics is challenged. Faith is just a stepping stone to power for these people. And if your reading this "Salty Pappy", I really don't think your in a position to call other people bigoted, especially after your last post. I used to be a christian, and the chldish name calling and lust for power and the singling out of gays for villification is what turned me away.

When you guys who think homosexuality is the worst thing in the world stop shaving and eating bacon and all the other things the old testament also condemns, then we might take your condemnation seriously. It's called practicing what you preach. But given the fact that you call other people arrogant while claiming to speak for God, I wouldn't hold my breath. That very scenario is laughable on it's face.

The "Jesus" gap

This isn't about "populism". It's about faith. Chuck Norris is as far from the populist ideal as you can get. If he truly has all the things he describes, he is exactly the type of person the real populists would avoid. How many Iowans are going to go out and buy a yaught? He should be the one they are condemning for phony populism rather then Edwards.

This is about religion, plain and simple. Chuck Norris is a known theocrat. I used to watch TBN and him and that ex-supermodel would do ads for wanting to restore America's "christian heritage" to the classroom. He condemns those who criticize Huckabees former profession but does anyone really think it isn't the reason he signed on to the campaign? Especially given that most of the republican candidates all have pretty much the same economic agenda anyway?

Who cares about Leno or Letterman...

when's the Daily Show coming back?! My god, the material is just piling up!

Thursday, January 3, 2008 10:46 AM

"I think I read that the Daily Show is back on January 7th."

YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

(and no, it wasn't rhetorical)

I love porn as much as the next guy...

but I'm sorry, those fake vaginas look like something a serial killer would put in his freezer! I'm willing to give the dildos a little more slack here. At least they don't include half a torso with them!

I don't know why anyone would be offended...

the walrus angels are just as believeable as the burning bush thing and the three day old zombie.

But then I guess it's just easier to accuse people of being arrogant then it is to face that fact, isn't it?

I hear the violence in Iraq is actually going down...

of course that's not what I see when I turn on the news, but it's what I've heard.

Now all we need to do is find those WMDs, right Bill?

I don't see anything different then what the GOP normally does...

They've always relied on a "them" to scare people into voting for them. For decades it was communists, for the past decade it was gays, now it's immigrants and terrorists. Fear of others is all the conservative movement has to offer. This article doesn't surprise me in the least.

Throw up a few more "Children of Men" style commercials and watch their base rally to the polls like the same sheep they've always been.

It's a shame Hillary is imploding...

because if she won, it would be a guarantee some dittohead would try and assisinate her thus proving that conservatives are violent by nature.

This alone should tell you how deep seated their irrational hatred for the Clintons is.

If their willing to ignore even their own candidates for it!

I've actually noticed this here as well...

Even in my local paper, I've noticed the letters about the war, both pro and con, have been drying up lately. And when one is published, the defenders of the war aren't exactly coming out in droves anymore either. There are a few in their "last throws" (sorry, couldn't resist!) but for the most part, the letters column has moved on, usually to what makes someone a "REAL" christian (living in the bible belt and all).

And to answer the question about healthcare, most of these guys admit there is a problem but aren't willing to cross that threshhold and admit that universal healthcare is a good idea. There are those who are willig to condemn it even though they would benefit from it, I guess "taking one for the team".

Aren't ALL republicans racist?

Let's put all the cards on the table here, they used fear of John McCain having a black baby to get people to vote for Bush in 2000, you wouldn't have seen a stunt like that by a democrat.

Thursday, January 10, 2008 10:37 AM

Well of course their having more sex...

how else are they going to convince themselves that their straight?

Thursday, January 10, 2008 02:48 PM

Typical republican tactic...

When caught with your hand in the cookie jar just quote the bible. You know what would be even harder ot find? A republican that wasn't for sale!

Thursday, January 10, 2008 02:52 PM

I never cared about the drug transactions in the men's room...

but when republicans started having gay sex in there, I just couldn't go back!
