This is a real problem for us.

Are you people high? HE IS A THEOCRAT!!! Look at some of the things he's said. He is a Bush who will actually make religious decisions while in office (as opposed to giving in to whoever Cheney tells him to and saying it was God). The reason why he can say he won't pander to the special interests is because so far, none have offered him anything. That makes it kind of easy to claim.

For years we've been trying to get working people to see past the culture war and think practically about their real needs and now this guy comes along and tells them they can have it both ways. In case you haven't noticed, that is bad for us. We'll have to promise to round up all gays and ship them off to the "re-education centers" to even get our feet in the door if this guy really takes off.

If you really think he is such a "nice guy", go back and look at his record. NEWSWEEK did an excellent article on him that should be required reading for all Iowans and everyone else in the nation.

I'm gald you all think this is so funny...

The fact of the matter is, combining religion and government is a dangerous idea. Do you think Europians running for office have to answer questions about whether or not they believe every word of the bible and other pointless questions that have nothing to do with the job their actually applying for? Most of the people who support Huckabee believe their should be laws regulating private behavior that doesn't hurt anyone. This alone should concern us. Don't think so? Someone asked earlier about what would Huckabee and his Gomer Pyle squad do to gays that they haven't already done: How about rescind the outcome of "Lawrence v. Texas", that Supreme Court case that nullified every anti-sodomy law in America. Most people may not remember but the Jesus crowd threw a pretty big hissy fit after that one was handed down. You don't think they would try and get it overturned? What about Roe? You think their going to sit on their laurels after fighting to get rid of it for the past 35 years? How about when John Ashcroft tried to turn the office of Attorney General into his own personal anti-porn crusade before 9/11 forced him to do his real job. You think Huckabee will appoint anyone different? Especially with the war on terror now fading from the headlines and the conservatives rather broad definition of waht qualifies as porn?

Is it concentration camps? No. But do you honsetly believe that James Dobson doesn't have a blueprint of those lying around his office somewhere waiting for a few more election victories by a few more Mike Huckabees? I wouldn't put money on it.

YEAHHHHHHHHHH!!! Another excuse to blame pop culture for all of societies problems!!!

Because, you know, we don't have enough of those.

Most celebraty kids come from parents living out their dreams through them. Couple that with the fact that the whole Spears clan probably comes from a rigid "christian" environment and this really isn't that much of a surprise.

I know there are many on this board who would love to believe that all kids who get knocked up come from "liberal" households, but please, grow up. Too much control sometimes creates rebellion.

Is that Bill O'Reilly thing for real?

Did he really say that? Surely even his audience isn't that stupid! If they are, the conservative movement is even more dangerous then we thought!

I love how Joe Klien...

seems to think that Rush Limbaugh should be a measuring stick for how policy is made. Say, maybe Ann Coulter should get to decide who the democrats nominate too!

Speaking of memorable qoutes throughtout the year, here's some of my favorites:

"And there is distrust in Washington. I am surprised, frankly, at the amount of distrust that exists in this town. And I'm sorry it's the case, and I'll work hard to try to elevate it."

George W. Bush on NPR: 1/29/07

"The constitution gives the president the power of clemency to be used when he deems it to be warranted. It is my judgement that a commutation of the prison term in Mr. Libby's case is an appropriate exercise of this power."

George W. Bush 7/2/07

"I wish the Iranian people well, and only hope their experience with an inept, rigid, idealogue president goes better than ours."

Oliver Stone responding to being called "part of the Great Satan" by the Iranian president: 7/2/07

But my all time favorite may not be from 2007, but is still appropriate I think would be this:

"I think for us to get American Military personnel invovled in a civil war inside Iraq would litterally be a quagmire. Once we got to Baghdad, what would we do?...I do not think the United States wants to have U.S. military forces accept casualties and accept responsibility of trying t ogovern Iraq. It makes no sense at all."

Dick Cheney, 1991.

"By nature liberals are idealistic so they refuse to accept the truth."

So Bush going into Iraq and expecting troops to be greeted as liberators just because Saddam was a "bad man", that's not idealistic?

Giving massive tax cuts to the rich and expecting it to "trickle down" onto the rest of us, that's not idealistic?

Banning gays from getting married in hopes that it will "preserve" straight marriages, that's not idealistic?

You people are a joke!

Republicans want a "grown-up"?

Their largest voting block picks candidates based on what they think will appease their flying spaghetti monster. That's not what "grown-ups" do.

Does it really matter which testament is used?

The republicans only cherry pick segments out of both that only suit them anyway. It doesn't really matter what's actually in there. The gay stuff (theoretically) doesn't apply to them, but the helping the poor does, so they only focus on the gay stuff. It's like reverend Lovejoy on the Simpsons says: "Have you ever actually sat down and read this thing? Technically, we're not even supposed to go to the bathroom."
