Dobson's days may be numbered.

Maybe the reason why he won't out and out denounce Dobson is because he is hoping that the "good" doctor will come around to realize he is the only GOP candidate who has a chance against the dreaded HILLARY that the right fears and loathes so much. Already many Dobson drones are coming to that realization.

I said before I don't think Dobson carries the clout even he thinks he does. His listeners may respect his opinions but in the end there is still the realization that they are the ones that have to live with the consequences of the next elections, not Dobson. Dobson's life will stay the same regardless of who wins (this is why many of us see these guys and their "fears" as phony to begin with). Let's face it, the Clinton years were good to Dobson, it gave him a big evil other to rail against in power that he doesn't have right now (the democrats in congress don't count since they won't bother to put up any kind of real fight anyway).

If Dobson is so sure he represents the majority of American christians, why isn't Brownback the front runner? I think Dobson knows the answer to that and doesn't want to face the music. After eight years of Bush (of whom Dobson is largely responsible for), people are sick of leaders who "do what feels right" even if it defies common sense. This could be his way of testing the waters to see if he still has the ear of the "majority" of the GOP. He may see that his influence really is waning and this is his last desperate hooray.

Why worry about real issues?

When sex has been doing so well for them so far? The republican party has been all about sex for over a decade and it's been good to them, why give it up now? If their voters started caring about real problems now, they might actually start realizing that the republican party doesn't care about them and they might walk away. Why run that risk?

"There's too much controversy surrounding Planned Parenthood at this point,"

That's enough to get a grand jury investigation in this country these days? I thought conservatives hated wasting tax payer money! I guess it's okay when it's all part of the "morality" crusades they like to go on.

Hey, I think the teenagers up the street might be selling drugs, I don't have any proof, but I'm sure my hunch is enough to get me a warrant from some judge somewhere!

I think your forgetting who the real enemy is.

I've never understood the conservative argument that things are progressing "too fast". What does that mean? When will the time be right for gays to get the same rights as everyone else? My guess is never in their minds.

It's easy to gang up on the trannies for wanting their piece of the pie but lets not lose sight of the real problem: the conservatives who are fighting you on this have no stake in it to begin with. For all intents and purposes, they are sticking their noses in where it doesn't belong. Compromising on a bill that no one has any real reason to oppose in the first place doesn't get you anywhere unless you call them on this little fact.

The fact that they have no interest in what causes homosexual attraction in the first place should be your first clue that they don't even understand what they are opposing to begin with.

I don't think homosexuality and gender reassignment are all that far off in relation. Both require the same type of understanding that what goes on in that persons head is not what is going on in a straight persons head. Until a light is shined on this simple fact, society at large will not change. This has to become more then about rights, it has to be an argument about nature. Critics can't argue that it's "unnatural" unless they can explain both what causes it and why it should be condemned. They also have to be able to show why it is any of their business in the first place.

The LGBT community can show what they have a stake easily by pointing out the legal rights they are being denied that everyone else has. At best, the most their critics can do is argue why the rights aren't necessary. After the argument over the nature of homosexuality, they may not be able to make a "moral" argument anymore. The debate must change if any real progress is to be made. It must become an argument about the cause of homosexual attractoin and it must put the burden of proof back where it belongs: on the obstructionist conservatives who stand in the way of equal rights for all.

MAHER IS GOD!!!

(does that mean he doesn't believe in himself?)

I don't know why you are so surprised by this latest "threat to our freedom", Bill. The republican's are notorious for creating phony "issues" that don't exist. Remember the "War on Christmas"? Or even the culture war itself? These guys love fighting wars, as long as there's not actual bullets involved. Then they just send other people's children to fight for them.

There's just one problem with this cartoon...

it shows cavemen, which, as anyone who reads the bible knows, never existed. Just ask the right wingers on here, they'll tell you.
