Why is he walking away now?

Ever heard the phrase, "the rats are the first to abandon a sinking ship"? Bush is a lame duck, there is nothing more Rove can do for him so he may as well move on to help the next incompetent loser who isn't fit to run a hardware store get elected. To be fair, the failure of his permanent republican majority was more or less out of his hands. It was the result of the failure of the Iraq war, Rove only cared about his guy and his party, I would be surprised if he had any real opinions on the war one way or the other. Thank Don Rumsfeld for the failure of the permanent republican majority.

As for his Hillary bashing, that is just him doing his job. A good republican is always "on". I expect he'll turn up in the Guilliani camp sometime next year.

Don't count them out yet!

Just because everything Bush is collapsing doesn't mean these people are going away. Yes, they are the sole reason he is in office or even had a chance at politics (along with Rove, lest we forget), but just because he gave them nothing, doesn't mean they are to stop the next Bush clone to give them everything. They will simply latch onto the next bible quoter who promises to give them control of the country. These people are like meth addicts when it comes to power and they have no intention of getting treatment.

It's also important to remember that Guilliani's success is largely due to Hillary fears. These people hate Hillary more then they love Guilliani and they are willing to hold their nose for someone they don't like or convince themselves that he is what they like if it means keeping her out of power. When your chances of holding onto power have been hurt as bad as theirs has, you'll take what you can get.

It's also the reason Romeny is catching up even though he is the dreaded "M" word. Yes, these people are desperate; remember when Pat Robertson invited Romney to speak at his college? You wouldn't have seen that ten years ago. But it's also important to bear in mind that these people, even if they lose, could come back even stronger in another decade only this time with a Karl Rove who actually agrees with them.

God help us when that happens.

What's their plan?

If the far right, and I guess in this case the moderate right, want to convince us so badly that the evil islamists are coming here, then perhaps they can explain how this is going to happen. Are they going to parachute in like "Red Dawn"? What about tanks and planes and battle ships? Are they going to bring those too? If we on the left have a hard time seeing this as anything other then a talk radio sound bite it's because no one seems to have given an explaination as to how this is supposed to happen.

I know her spiritual belief doesn't sound very plausable...

...but it sounds about as plausable as every other spiritual belief!

Leave him alone guys, his fashion sense is all he has left!

He couldn't look any stupider then his Micheal Dukakis moment in that flight suit! Of course the WH is going to defend his clothes, they sure as hell can't defend his policies anymore! While Parino had her on the phone, he might have wanted to remind her that Bush isn't the intimidating force he once was. Screwing up everything you touch tends to kill the magic.

I tell you what horse, when your president turns out to do something effectily, then we'll start caring about his fragile ego, but with a year and a half left to go, I'm not holding my breath!

As for the Texans, sadly, they may never come to their senses about Bush in our lifetimes. They will likely spend the next 30 years defending his honor. It's amazing how you can get some people to defend everything you do just by saying Jesus enough times.

Brangelina adopts Batboy!!!

I first saw the WWN when I was about 9 years old in a checkout counter. It had a wolfman on the cover (I don't remember the headline) and I was afraid it was true. My mother had to reassure me that it wasn't and I couldn't figure out who would buy a paper that wasn't true. After eight years of the Bush adminstration, with many still willing to defend his policies, I now have a general idea. It doesn't surprise me that the website is full of right wing ads, these people know who their audience is.

Ken Burns could not have picked a worst time.

I hate to say this, but given the current administrations need to compare the war in Iraq to WWII, this may not be a good time to show this. Why? Because the first people who are going to watch this are going to be pro-war Bushies who, after they turn off the TV after every episode, will turn to their spouse and say, "Back then this country knew how to finish a war, we didn't have all these namby pamby liberals telling us to cut and run from Hitler." The last thing they need is more ammunition.

Burns always does an exceptional job and I have no idea what his personal politics, if any, may actually be, but it just seems like this might be a bad idea right now. Not that that is Burns fault, but I'm sure there are many who will see this as a rallying point to justify throwing more bodies into the Iraqi meat grinder.

Your surprised FOX thought the public was stupid?

Have you seen THEIR "news" channel? They have every reason to believe people are that stupid.
