Original article: Obama's all-star summit

I saw one of his mouthpieces on CNBC tonight

Unfortunately all she could utter were the same old garbage talking points

Obama is for people

People need money

We agreed that something important must be done

Whatever those other people criticize, they're wrong

And then Meg Whitman for McCain says pretty much the same thing for that guy.

It was nine kinds of awesome.

Does this account for all the electric cars?

Imagine if you will a country where we have 200 million electric cars on the road all hungry for the juice. Where is that electricity going to come from? Planet Unicorn?

The played Obama songs at Umphrey's McGee

But everyone was so blazed out high that no one noticed.

Original article: Ask Pablo

Two different problems

When we lived in Africa and it would routinely get to 140 degrees @ 5% humidity the problem is death. Actual walking around for 30 minutes and drop dead death.

The other problem is discomfort. Also in Africa, there were places that were 100 degrees and raining. Imagine being in a steambath, all day, everyday.

Original article: A bookmark for the iPod

In case you haven't been paying attention

MP3 players will go the way of the floppy in a couple of years. There's a large number of phones which can do almost as good a job. Almost. Mine has a 4GB uSD card which is half the nominal storage of an iPod. The codecs are almost as good. Sure sure it doesn't have the same interface but the iPod's interface, coupled with WiFi and MP4 is where its sweet spot really is. Not audio. With bluetooth headphones the phone will play the audio and interrupt itself to allow me to answer the phone though the headphones. The phone stays tucked away and I can even scroll through the audio by touching the headphones w/o having to lug out the phone.

In a couple of years phones will widely use larger capacity uSD cards, have better codecs and will also get much better digital cameras for affordable prices. Once they sell a phone with a 16GB slot that I can partition into audio vs camera content, bolted to a 6MP camera or higher then you will see not only the end of MP3 players but a big piece of the digital camera market too.

Original article: How safe is safe?

Ok so it's a viral ad for Mi5

I know a bit about the multilayer architecture of ISS Proventia appliances as well. While they are not, strictly speaking firewalls, they do deep packet analysis in a stateful machine. Firewalls on the other hand are basically routers implemented in hardware with layer 2-3 switches put on top of them for performance purposes. A firewall that purports to be all things to all men will often suffer from performance problems, e.g. dropped packets unless it is a big honking thing, or, it can deployed as a load balanced cluster across your virtual switch ports.

Original article: "She was just in diapers"

I heard that one of the best atheletes in the Paralympics games was refused a slot

In the US one of the best table tennis players in the world is a 69 year old man. He is ranked world wide #15. The national committee just refused to permit him to play because

And I quote

He's too old and we're trying to promote the sport to younger athletes.

Unquote.

Original article: The graying of Obama

It's not gray

It's the divine glint of heaven reflecting off his head. A glowing cloud within which God dwells. Everyone knows that.

Every day

I get up and pray to the powers that be, to just fucking hurl the asteroid at us and wipe out the whole goddamn planet.

Original article: Hang up and drive

Well if you want to stand up for the principles you're so outraged by

Then you should happily go to jail after assaulting, physically assaulting people who use a phone. Would any animal rights fanatic stand by and watch a pet tortured? No of course not. Be a Gandhi, lay on the railroad tracks if that's how you feel about it. So the next time you see someone driving while talking on the phone, follow them home and beat them up. Wait for the cops to show up, get arrested and go to jail. Make a statement, start a cause. And why limit yourself to cars. I see there's many other instances that anger people here, pretty much encompassing the entire public sphere. So when you're at the movies, punch that called in the mouth. Slap that teenage girl at the mall. Swing a haymaker at that guy in the bowling alley with the bluetooth. That's what principles are for, aren't they?

Do they still imprison thousands of gays, writers, teachers and opponents?

I mean in that magical marxist paradise, Cuba? Because if they do we could at least pretend to pressure them to let them out.

Disney has a checklist

They're working their way down to the line you personally most approve of. Since this is Salon/BS I bet you've got a hankering for a Blaxican Bi-curious Princess. Which is fine, you're just going to have to wait your turn.

$50?

My bills went up 16% in May, another 16% is in the pipeline for October. That's before the 2x increase expected in Nat Gas this winter.

You people haven't seen nuthin yet. Americans will go hungry in the freezing cold this winter. It should be fascinating.

And I for one can't wait for

"Outlander": Jim Jesus Caviezel, a spaceman, crash lands on Norway, 785AD to partner with the Vikings to battle the space dragons. I hope it's a comedy but if it's not, that will be even funnier.

Chris Sinnard

It always goes unnoticed that the Federation is essentially a military confederacy and the difference between the army and the government appears to be paper thin.
