number1laing

bzzzzt wrong again, loser. You see enemies everywhere, which is precisely my point. Sure I understand it's a comic strip. Do you? I'm not so sure. You DO KNOW that it's a little more nuanced than that, don't you?

For instance, genius, no one is seriously suggesting that we do away with all regulation everywhere. That's just bread and circuses for people like you to scream about. No, the issue is that some people want regulation that benefits THEM.

It's like the tards who yell "Well if you're going to let homeowners sink then you have to let the banks fail too...waaaah waaaah !" Really? Can I implode the phone company too and the hospital down the road because you can't pay your bill? THAT would be awesome.

And for the record, yes, the placard nonsense that routinely screams that the 'real' problem is capitalism REALLY DOES reflect the same tone as early era Soviet agitprop. Pick up a book, read it, find something out. I hear they have this thing called 'the web'. Or are the Obamanauts so inbred here they can't tolerate anything that deviated from the Blessed Doctrine of TT, Glenn Greenwald and the rest of Salon who tell you what to think?

Loyalty oaths to the sworn party orthodoxy are in order

Lots of political parties in other nations have them. Swear to uphold the party doctrine and orthodoxy or face expulsion or worse. I would also like to see party membership as a requisite for things like civil service jobs, running for election, etc. etc.

Original article: Stone cold buggin'

We need a Sergei Eisenstein

Or Leni Riefenstahl as it were. An official court filmmaker who produces ideologically correct films we can use to highlight our successes and harm our enemies. Stone is too independent minded for that. Close, but not him.

How will it touch me personally?

Otherwise it's just another "Screw the middle class to pay for the poor so the rich hippies aren't mad at me" ploy. Eventually some politician will discover that the middle class has been emptied of all its wealth, the ATM is dry and that's that. Country over.

Bitter Scribe

Someday even blockheads like you will look around and discover they've helped bleed the middle class dry. Good luck when that happens. When you're living rent free off dad's money things always look all revolutionary and shit.

If only it were about edgy Bosnian pregnant teens

Then it would be kewl.

You're missing the point

Obama won't need a functioning Congress at all. Not that it does now. But Glenn will help erect a dictatorship of divine radical brilliance that will rule by fiat. Does anyone seriously worry about the Venezuelan parliament or the Russian Duma? Of course not. The ultimate GG/Salon form of governance looks a lot more like that than it does this stupid silly dysfunctional American system. Just get Obama elected and you won't need to worry about 'process'.

I say why not?

The whole mechanism of domestic violence in the courts is clunky and confusing. Just put them on notice, the first one is free. If you kill any subsequent husbands then the cops will be compelled to look into it. As long as they do the killing themselves. Hiring a hit should still be frowned upon.

I liked Pi but in truth it was almost unwatchable.

And Requiem for a Dream WAS unwatchable. Happily neither was the huge pile of crap that The Fountain was. I can't even imagine what a steaming pile his Robocop would be.

Tuesday, July 29, 2008 10:52 AM

Exactly, Obama can safely ignore Congress

And rule by executive fiat. He knows better than we do.

No it's not it based on the reality that both parties have worked to turn the middle class into the ATM for the country

The GOP and the Dems both. And the ongoing 'solution' to a narrowly defined set of 'problems' which more often than not is described as 'let's raise the lowest of the low before we do anything else no matter how long it takes or what it costs. then when we're done failing at that we'll move on to the next pool miserables deserving of the middle class's attention.

For example

My state's public university system wants to allow illegal aliens to attend for resident rates or lower while restricting the resident enrollment down from 75% to no more than 50%. Who pays for that? the middle class does. Everyone in government is agreement that the middle class should be happy to pay more and more for fewer and fewer opportunities.

Anyone who voted for FISA should be arrested

Oops that includes Obama. Oh well, gotta break some eggs to make an omlette.

Tuesday, July 29, 2008 12:05 PM

Hopefully we will do away with elections by 2010

With only the party faithful in attendance what need have we of those messy elections. All Hail Obama, President for Life!

I sold a house in 1996 for a $30,000 dead loss

Or approximately 20% AFTER having paid a 10.25% mortgage for 10 years. Believe it or not the world did not come to an end. I'm sorry but the squishy squashy sense of how we can cushion the poor homeowners from not having to absorb any loss at all does not ring as an honest, credible or realistic response. People make choices. If we as a society have become so terrified of reality that we have to literally protect everyone from themselves then yes, I agree, we need to move to abolish private ownership, just like the Soviets. Let's cash out everyone, take them homes and turn them over to the state. Everyone gets to live for free in their former home. All their salary is turned over to the state and all expenses are paid by the state in a perfect risk free money free society. People will still be allowed small personal items not to exceed $1,000 per person in a family.

What could possibly go wrong with that? Nothing.

Tuesday, July 29, 2008 12:19 PM

I'm sure this will amount to little

Government by definition is legalized stealing.

there's a whole book on using the CLI for Google

(command line interface). You might be amazed how much of that CLI isn't publically known or well documented.

I don't think it's defensible

But it's acceptable. If that's how the rabble choose to entertain themselves then fine.

We leave it to Glenn to tell us what specifically those issues are

Specifically which issues define the apostates Glenn. What specifically are the criteria for pass/fail? If you elect authoritarianism it would help if you circumscribed what those unacceptable attitudes and actions are.
