Original article: How safe is safe?

Ok so it's a viral ad for Mi5

I know a bit about the multilayer architecture of ISS Proventia appliances as well. While they are not, strictly speaking firewalls, they do deep packet analysis in a stateful machine. Firewalls on the other hand are basically routers implemented in hardware with layer 2-3 switches put on top of them for performance purposes. A firewall that purports to be all things to all men will often suffer from performance problems, e.g. dropped packets unless it is a big honking thing, or, it can deployed as a load balanced cluster across your virtual switch ports.

Original article: A bookmark for the iPod

In case you haven't been paying attention

MP3 players will go the way of the floppy in a couple of years. There's a large number of phones which can do almost as good a job. Almost. Mine has a 4GB uSD card which is half the nominal storage of an iPod. The codecs are almost as good. Sure sure it doesn't have the same interface but the iPod's interface, coupled with WiFi and MP4 is where its sweet spot really is. Not audio. With bluetooth headphones the phone will play the audio and interrupt itself to allow me to answer the phone though the headphones. The phone stays tucked away and I can even scroll through the audio by touching the headphones w/o having to lug out the phone.

In a couple of years phones will widely use larger capacity uSD cards, have better codecs and will also get much better digital cameras for affordable prices. Once they sell a phone with a 16GB slot that I can partition into audio vs camera content, bolted to a 6MP camera or higher then you will see not only the end of MP3 players but a big piece of the digital camera market too.

Two different problems

When we lived in Africa and it would routinely get to 140 degrees @ 5% humidity the problem is death. Actual walking around for 30 minutes and drop dead death.

The other problem is discomfort. Also in Africa, there were places that were 100 degrees and raining. Imagine being in a steambath, all day, everyday.

Does this account for all the electric cars?

Imagine if you will a country where we have 200 million electric cars on the road all hungry for the juice. Where is that electricity going to come from? Planet Unicorn?

Original article: Obama's all-star summit

I saw one of his mouthpieces on CNBC tonight

Unfortunately all she could utter were the same old garbage talking points

Obama is for people

People need money

We agreed that something important must be done

Whatever those other people criticize, they're wrong

And then Meg Whitman for McCain says pretty much the same thing for that guy.

It was nine kinds of awesome.

I'm waiting to hear about soft cheating from the Chinese

You know how it works. Mess up the schedule. Make your threats compete at odd times. Use a new special ball or similar equipment that only the Chinese have seen before. And of course the judged events will be straight out of the old communist era "With a typical low score from the North Korean judge....."

And so on. The Chinese literally cannot afford to lose one iota of national face on these games.

A one party system would be fine

It works more or less acceptably well in other places, among them Venezuela, Cuba, China, Iran, South Africa, Egypt. Anything that is not 1 billion percent behind the most militant left wing of the party SHOULD be lined up against the wall and shot.

I agree with Glenn

Line them up and shoot them. Then the GOP will be free for the picking. Line them up and shoot them too.

And I don't mean that in a metaphorical way either. When The Shah was overthrown upwards of 350,000 loyalists to the ancient regime we're lined up and shot.

A one party system is exactly what this country is ripe for. Kudos Glenn for having the courage to say so.

Original article: This Modern World

All kidding aside

It's starting to sound like 1920's era Soviet propaganda against the soon to be purged kulak farmers and their evil capitalism. All kidding aside this is the same tone achieved by the Great Leap Forward, in China in the late 1950's.

In case you were worried that your humor was blurry.

I'm with you

Kill a million of them then make the survivors wear blue stars or something like that. Every sea change in history has required it and the squeamish are trampled. The problem with liberals is that they all talk shit and revolution and that's it.

I'm sorry if you think I'm kidding, I am not.

While we're at it

Let's do away with the office of the President and replace it with a people's liberation and public safety committee.

I bet they're Republican little grey men. And zionists to boot. Let's hear what Glenn Greenwald has to say about this media conspiracy.

Original article: Nostalgia for the Bush era

so......

Chick Vampire Television made into movie, something about George Bush and a gay Egyptian.

Ok, we got all the standard bases covered, thank you.

This ethnic cleansing of the illiberal was predicted months ago

It's really just more of the same from the Obama faction. Once they win their minions will see to this. Hopefully they won't stop there and get rid of all the GOP too. We need a one party state, the party is the government system. We need to eliminate term limits on the President too. I for one would happily accept Obama as the President for life in a one party state where all those of suspect liberality are reeducated. In every nation, radical change is borne of 'hope' or desperation. Sometimes it's called fascism sometimes it's called revolution.

Ok

It brings up the same articles over and over again on different results pages.

It has pictures with most results - most which don't appear on the source page, many of which are completely unrelated and some of them are porn, even with safe search on.

The search by category is unrelated to the search or the results. I think it's paid advert space.

I give it a D
