Original article: The amazing Josh Hamilton

Go Athens Drive HS !!!

Josh Hamilton was recruited as a pitcher and immediately sent to the outfield. He routinely threw 94mph at Athens Drive HS. He's big and fast and strong. And if you know HOW to hit a baseball then you can hit a baseball. As long as your hands don't give out from contact and you don't hurt yourself, you can swing and make contact at 55mph pitches all day. Get under the ball slightly and swing up and into it. At that speed the ball will travel through the strike zone in about 4/50ths of a second which is enough to see it and crush it. Pivot and swing. Remember the basics.

"Government subsidized" implies that it's affordable at all

Before all of you get all gooey for national health care that apparently won't cost anyone anything, remember that it's premised on the assumption that care is affordable. Simply shifting who pays for it (me and the middle class) doesn't in fact make it cheaper. It simply shifts the cost to people who don't make good copy as the misfortunate poor brown people. The first thing you have to do is reduce the overall cost of delivering that care, up to and including doing away with unnecessary procedures. Why I was in the ER recently and racked up $7000 in charges in 'defensive medicine' just so the facility could say "Well we checked everything, it's not our fault if you die". Perhaps the time has come where not everyone needs a CAT scan and MRI for everything. Perhaps we don't need to consider arthroscopic surgery for 80 year olds. Maybe if you're a 100 lbs overweight you don't get the latest and greatest in the most exotic new procedures.

What about next door Algeria

Where 200,000 died in an internal civil war in the 90's waged by the elected fundamentalists who would be deposed by the secularists? Seems that all of that was a waste and if the Algerians had any common sense they would have simply put up with the Bronze Age types. Of course there were no americans or Jews hanging around that fight so it's all good. And for the upwards of 100,000 political 'disappearances' annually in Egypt, Tunisia and Morocco, mostly in a back alley war waged against fundamentalists? I'm guessing we should write those governments a sternly worded letter as well as an apology. Clearly it's all our fault.

BTW, Libs, Libya used chemical weapons against Chad in the closing days of the Chad-Libya war. I'm sure some evil white guys are the reason for that. Down with America!!

Remember

Everything Obama does is good and noble. If anyone else copies him they are, by definition bad and evil.

I was actually shocked

That you didn't cover BSG and ONLY every show on premium cable channels. Though there wasn't much new in your list with the exception of 'Saving Grace' which you had to cover earlier this week, no? Other than that you hit all the NPR, Stoner, Recovering addict, black people high points. Good job.

China is a noble peaceful country

Tibet? Check

World's worst polluter? Check

Rampant corruption? Check

25% inflation? Check

Propping up the genocidal Sudan government? Check

Selling nuclear technology to Iran? Check

Thousands of legally sanctioned executions per year? Check

But what China has, the evil horrible USoA doesn't is an utter indifference to what anyone else thinks, and more importantly, a national culture that breeds the believe that China before all others. I'm afraid the GG's of the US would always put someone else's interests before them - precisely what they accuse the Jews of doing.

Just offer up another tax cut

The GOP mastered the trick of playing to the electorate's aspirations not their reality. When they give a big tax cut to those who's station in life is far above your own, they're playing on the hope that one day you too can be one of those in the upper strata. This is why the whole estate tax fight came to be. While no more than 4% of households would ever be subject to it, the GOP base, the lower middle classes, saw that as a threat to their own unrealized upward mobility. If those farmers can make millions selling out to developers then why not the NASCAR crowd too?

So what will happen is the GOP will roll out one last big fake tax cut and the 'base' will roil out and vote for them because who after all, is against prosperity? It doesn't matter that it's bullshit.

Use the troops in Germany, Japan and South Korea

The probability of them being needed where they are now is quite low. All tallied they make up 130,000 troops.

I think the solution is to simply give up on teaching anyone ethics or responsibility

And collect all the 'unplanned' children and make them wards of the state through age 18 without question. Let all the teen breeders pound out kids, bring all the babies to a group creche and be done with all the handwringing once and for all. No one has any plans to look people old enough to drive car, straight in the eye and tell them they screwed up because they don't have any values or concern for anyone but themselves. Instead we need to moralize and therapeutize and 'treat' and examine and apologize. Ok, so be it. Let's just cut out the whining.

I think lethal force in self defense is appropriate

And since the timeline for determining what rape is, often extends far beyond the actual event, the best solution would be allow wives to simply kill their husbands, whenever, as an act of self defense for past or future perceived rapes.
