Dirigo

I'm not pushing anything. It's simply a matter of public record that Obama has said he has no intention of pulling the plug on Iraq, Day 1. His position, however nuanced is not all that different from anyone else's. And the fact, yes the fact is, that neither McCain nor Obama will be able to act independently. Their hands would be forced one way or the other. Either the Iranians go nuclear around 2011-12 which has a very high probability, and we leave the region to the 'third' Empire of the middle east (First the Brits, then US then Iran) or, equally likely, things become so untenable here and abroad that we declare victory and go home. But be clear - we WILL be there at least another 4 years possibly more. Given that and given that it's public knowledge both candidates have acknowledged this, it's clear that the American populace at this point simply shrugs and puts "Iraq" up on the shelf with other non critical items to worry about.

Logistically the only other alternative is for the US to abandon most of its basing commitments around the world. 60,000 troops in Germany, 30,000 in Korea, 40,000 in Japan - toss them all the problem, double down and then pull out. Not that there's anything wrong with withdrawing 100,000 troops from around the world who's job it is to sit around and do nothing.

An interesting quandry

What does anyone think that an Obama administration WOULD be able to get through Congress. Anything less than a Dem super majority is going to be deadlocked and ineffectual like it is today. And the GOP has already shown the willingness to wreck the country if it means losing power.

No the first two years of Obama's term will be a stalemate. Then the Congressional elections of 2010 will yield a loss of Dem seats which lead to even more uselessness. This will end in 2012 with a cynical GOP call to 'throw the bums out'.

michael saber davidson

You still have to spend a great deal of time money and effort fixing crap that breaks. I had a 46" LCD TV, an Xbox, a laptop, a fax machine, a router and a phone service fail in one month. Plus two of my scooters had to go into the shop.

Original article: Reader, she married him

Karma's a Bitch then she leaves you for another loser

Ms. Brinkley met all of her husbands, while cheating on her current spouse at that time. Not only did she bang #2 while 'managing' Billy Joel's career, she got the kid too and took the ex for literally almost every dime he had. Brinkley is a sociopath who's finally met her match in the I Don't Give a Fuck What You Do department.

Of we really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really are going to attack Iran tomorrow morning.

No really, we promise this time.

For the record

The last time we had TWO GOP Senators, Jesse Helms was considered the 'liberal'. His colleague, Lauch Faircloth considered himself further to the right than Helms.

Why not? Cheney is an anomaly

Every other Vice President is a do nothing job that anyone, anyone could do.

It couldn't possibly be

That the EU wants to see strict laws enacted that force them to deny trade to developing nations, could it? Comply with the EU treaty of Whateverornot vis a vis emissions and Green-ery or the EU will tariff your goods and services coming to the EU?

Oh no I can't possibly see that happening, can you?

Computer Associates has a similar plan

It's very much more affordable though. And CA has a poor reputation too. Odd isn't it?

FNPs and PA's

The last time I saw a real MD was years ago. They've all been replaced with FNP's and PA's. They do a fine job.

OMG the sky is falling

So what if a nuclear armed Pakistan plummets into anarchy and becomes the next Taliban state. It's bound to happen anyway so we might as well embrace it and mitigate the damage elsewhere. Odds are they'd be limited to local nuclear attacks or selling it off to Iran, which as we all agree is not such a bad thing anyway. We'll just redraw our maps to label the whole region "Smokingcraterstan". Hey if they play their cards right they could free the world of the evil zionist menace and win big prizes with the liberals in the west.

24 is a watershed year

At or around age 24 the entire dynamic shifts. Young women, who have had a lifetime of holding all the cards and most of the power in every relationship are beginning to see that shift to the men. She clearly doesn't want to give that up and wants to be pursued by someone in order to keep that power imbalance going. So you can give it a year or so but it probably won't change and she'll become the serial single woman we all know.

How do they get from there to here?

If you're supposed to be sexually ignorant before marriage and then on the day you wed you're supposed to be a porn star, how does that happen? There seems to be flaw in that process.

We need fewer doctors

Most GP work can be done by lower paid lower skill people. We already kill enough people from malpractice today so churning out more doctors isn't going to help that. No - fewer doctors, lower costs and therefore more access.

Dear patient:

You should;

Eat less

Exercise more

Take your blood pressure, diabetes, asthma, etc etc etc medication

Since most health problems are related to our pathetically bad lifestyles, it doesn't take a rocket surgeon to conclude that doctors don't need to be the people telling these overfed lazy wheezing diabetic fatasses to change their ways.

You are at loggerheads

Energy sufficiency and Green-ism are fundamentally opposed to one another. You need to at least focus on only one of those things. Salon Franciscans want a carbon free oil free gas free car free pre industrial world. Ok - pick that one.
