  • Oil Drilling Proponents

[Read the article: The truth about drilling and gas prices]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

For those of you who think giving the Oil monopolies unfettered access to any federal and state land for plunder; and think this will somehow magically lower cost, you may want to reflect a bit on why the U.S. is exporting oil. Yes, the U.S. exports oil, gas, and processed fuel to foreign ports.

There is no shortage of oil nor a shortage of hedge-fund operators willing and able to game the markets. The complete lack of oversight and regulation, (thanks to McCain and Lindsay Graham who exempted energy from the 2000 Commodities Modernization Act)has enabled this current energy con-game. Add to the mix a significant devaluation of the dollar due to W's pillaging of the treasury and presto, you have $140 barrel of oil.

Unless anyone is willing to regulate the markets and terminate this dollar sucking fiasco in Iraq, nothing will be done. Of course the Media isn't going to tell you the truth as long as big oil (Chevron) and war profiteers (General Electric)make sure the American public is mis-informed. These corporations don't advertise in the MSM, they buy protection. So no- Obama can't wave a magic wand and make it better. It does not matter what he would like to do. He doesn't have the power. At least not yet.

  • McCain's qualifications?

[Read the article: Media mischaracterizes Clark comments, Obama backs away]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

John McCain got into the Naval Academy because his father was a high ranking U.S. Naval official and pulled strings to get sonny boy the coveted slot over more qualified applicants. Little John not realizing the opportunity that was handed to him, simply did not apply himself and graduated near the bottom of his class. Sixth from last was where he landed. After graduation, little John's daddy and his friends pulled rank and made sure sonny got to fly those real cool aircraft over more deserving candidates. John McCain was put into a cockpit of a fighter jet, a place he should have never been had he been judged on his merits alone. Let's face the facts here. John McCain was never a good fighter pilot and should have never been put in that position in the first place. He did not have the aptitude for this job and continued to crash plane after plane. I'm sorry he spent years in a prison camp. I wouldn't wish that for anyone. However, John McCain is no different that George Jr. and is unqualified to lead. Clark is right. John McCain doesn't have the skill-set necessary to be President. I'd rather go with the A student who worked his way into a prestigious Ivy League school on his own merits. I've had enough of daddy's boys and their country-club thugs running things. We've seen the results and it's not pretty.

  • WHY?

[Read the article: What did those 300 economists really endorse?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Why would 299 economist still support McCain after this fool used them for pure political gain? I'd be furious with this flip-flopping old hack.

  • GOP Problems

[Read the article: McCain surrogate says Americans are "whiners"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

This seems to sum up a big part of the problem for the GOP and the Bush Cabal. I'd go as far as saying it exemplifies most politicians insided the beltway both Democratic and Republican.

Phil Gramm's remarks expose the true feeling of the GOP elders and enablers. They believe the American electorate is primarily naive and must be spoken to and treated like children. Our elected officials are either patronizing or telling us to shut up, sit down and let them handle stuff because they know what's best. Add to this mix a complicit media and you have the political dysfuntion in America.

When the American voting public decides to grow up and stop letting their elected leaders treat them like a red-headed step child, maybe we can see real change and political progress. Until then we the "whiners" will end up with a government run by George "I'm the decider" Bush who's going to keep us safe from the big bad "turrist".

  • Whiners

[Read the article: New McCain video: "Obama Love"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

McCain's old-timers express should take a B-12 shot and stop the whining. They have plenty of love over at Faux News.

  • Racism / Economy

[Read the article: Blow blows up race race]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Racism always becomes a more prominent political tool when the economy sucks. The use of race and class to divide and conguer voters in tough economic times has always been used effectively by politicians. One should review the effective campaigns of racist and segregationist George Wallace; or the class raping, race-baiting Ronald Reagan. This report is no surprise given the language of the questions and how the questions are asked....not surprising at all. The American electorate is ripe for race and class manipulation against their better interest.

  • Can Sarah Speak for Herself?

[Read the article: Sarah Palin and the glass ceiling ]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I think Joe was referring to the lack media access to Palin and the McCain campaign's refusal to allow her to be anywhere near the press for interviews.. He was right. The press should be directing questions like these to Palin and questioning why she's not been made availble. These questions should not be asked of Joe Biden. When is she going to sit down and conduct real interviews with journalists? ...Before anyone suggest the upcoming sit-down with Charlie Gibson will be anything more than an ABC schmooze fest, please spare me.

  • Bailout Bull

    [Read the article: President Bailout]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Let the markets collapse. Corporate America and their media whores sold this bill of hack politicians to Joe six-pack. They made this mess. Until the American public feels the pain of their uninformed voting habits, we will still get one crappy government after another that picks our pockets for the benefit of Wall Street. I'd rather pay the $700 billion to extend unemployment benefits, create a medical safety net, build bridges, public transportation, and public works projects. I'm tired of the fear mongering press and politicians. Bring on the depression. No pain, no gain.

  • Too Nice

[Read the article: New Obama ad: "Parachute"]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I get it, but Obama is coming off way too nice. I liked it better when he shouted "Enough!" at the convention. At least it sounded less professorial and more impassioned. It seems he's trying way too hard not to be the angry black guy. Unfortunately, for many of us, we are way beyond angry at Washington and Wall Street.
