If what he says is true, that he and the daughter are deeply in love and that he makes her very happy, and if the father isn't literally on his death bed but only, shall we say, nearing the end of the road, then why shouldn't the father throw this guy a bone? Doesn't sound like it would take much. A morsel. A soupcon of approval.

Maybe because he's not her dad. We have no idea how long step-dad and mom have been married, do we? We don't know if he raised her like she was his own, or if she's just his wife's kid.

My mom has a step-brother she's never met, and her dad and step-mom have been married for more than 25 years. Step relationships are not always the same as biological relationships.

either he's delusional or an idiot, but he's on the right side of the issues and I can't vote against him. I would prefer not to have a Mormon in the leadership of my party, but if we actually kicked him out just because he's a Mormon, there would be a huge political backlash. I don't think getting rid of Reid just because of his religion is worth the trouble it would cause.

But I actually think Reid has got to be more delusional or idiotic than Romney, if he actually believes in Mormonism, because he's a convert. It's one thing to believe in something because you were indoctrinated from birth, but it's another, more delusional/idiotic thing entirely to choose it as an adult.

I don't believe that all religious people are delusional or idiotic. But anyone who truly, honestly buys the load of crap that Joseph Smith was selling, yeah. Delusional and/or idiotic.

I don't see how someone with any intelligence and critical thinking skills whatsoever can truly believe in Mormonism. As far as I can tell, Romney truly believes in Mormonism. That makes him unfit for office not because he's a Mormon but because he's an idiot. Look what happens when we elect idiots to the highest office in the land. It ain't pretty.

I suppose it's possible to be a Mormon and not an idiot. Say, for example, you were raised in the religion and as an adult you started thinking about it and decided most of it was totally implausible, but you were comfortable in your life so you didn't want to go through the tumult of extricating yourself. You, in that case, may be lazy, but you're not an idiot. But if you thought about it and came to the conclusion that it was all true, or worse yet if you never thought about it at all, that makes you an idiot.

So very tired. The events of 1965-1975 were important. And they are Over. They've been over for a long time. It's time to move on, for Christ's sake. That's reason enough to vote for Obama, now that I think about it.

Your argument is embarrassing, and it's more "poor Hillary" whining. For a woman who is supposed to be tough enough to be president, who says if someone hits you you hit them back twice as hard, there is a lot of boo-hooing going on.
