Death With Dignity

If the Federal Government is going to stop bothering us in Oregon about our Death With Dignity Laws, we'll be pretty happy. We keep voting for it and the Feds keep getting in the way.

Is that what you're talking about Glock? Our voter mandated ticket out? We wanted it and we have it. And no one else gets to say.

And the Feds can stay out of our Medical Marijuana laws too, while they're at it.

However, we don't have universal health care here, more's the pity. We're having a hard time getting into the emergency room and most of us aren't covered by insurance.

We've got some coverage for kids though.

We're trying hard up here to get things going. It would be a big help if the Federal Government would help rather than hinder our progress.

Offer us something better than the status quo or get out of our way.

Original article: Gay mecca no more

And really, polyamorists are people too.

So I think that perhaps getting all crazy about polygamy might not help us. It makes me think bitterly of all the times monosexual folk said 'well at least we're not bi' in the mid-90s.

If gay marriage is troubling because of its religious connotations, the United States of America should abolish all marriage. The State cannot be involved in a religious institution.

We'll let straight monogamous people enjoy the benefits of our civil unions and contract law negotiations, etc.

I mean, they'll be equal, right?

Do what is right

The Universal Life Church has only one tenet:

"Do what is right."

I get the impression that LW is having trouble with that. If it twists up your insides and makes you cringe to do something, it probably doesn't count.

Hey, I don't think you're crazy or maybe not even wrong. But if you do vote for John McCain, then you have no standing to make fun of Nader voters.

Same if you write in Clinton.

The two party system is pretty rigged. You either vote with one of the big crowds or you risk getting the opposite of what you wanted rather than just something slightly askew.

You just happen to be feeling what third party folks have been feeling for a long long time. If you're going to vote a protest vote, try voting for Green Party or Peace and Freedom Party candidates. The results will probably be the same, but you'll have helped a third party have a bit more of a voice.

Really?

The place won't be the same without him. I remember working at Games of Berkeley and getting comics advice from that guy every single day.

@ShawnWM

"Think I'll write in Hillary and sit this one out. Only sane thing to do."

If you do that, you know that Nader supporters will get to laugh at you, right?

Anyone who splits the Democratic vote this election had better never say another bad thing about Ralph Nader... ever. You'll have lost your bitchin' rights.

I'd go see it!

"They should make Spiderman a transgendered lesbian bipolar superhero struggling with adopting a handicapped child into a biracial gay couple's family."

-- Electro Robot

I would totally go see that. No, seriously. It would be a lot more interesting than the alternative. And speak more to real life.

Any movie with a transgender superhero, I'll go see just out of support for transgender superheros.

Has a movie about the comic series "The Invisibles" come out yet?

please get out of the new one if you can't lend your hand

Why are we even talking about marriage? It's a ridiculous outmoded institution that should be abolished entirely. You want to enter into a contract with another human being? Get a lawyer. Your gender, your economic status, your religion shouldn't have anything to do with it.

And shame? Really? You want to know why those girls are getting VD Parson? Abstinence only education isn't telling anyone about how not to get diseases. Only our churches and governments should be ashamed.

And those kids going through those programs... still have sex. With less information.

True Love Doesn't Wait... and it never has.

We need new ways to deal with each other, including raising kids.

Of course, your logic does work in one way... my friends who have kids on their own have a lot of stress... less so for my friends who are sharing the responsibilities amongst two parents.

And my poly friends who are sharing childrearing amongst three or four people are the happiest of all!

No, seriously.

Original article: How did the T get in LGBT?

Bisexuals got included by volunteering, so did transgender people

The gay and lesbian community in the early 90s never really wanted to put B or T on the posters for Pride parades. So we jumped in and volunteered our cute little asses off to make Pride parades even better. And so we got to put our initials on the banners. We stepped up and put our 'queer shoulders to the wheel.'

The queer community needs our muscle. I certainly won't apologize for taking a little power.

The way to stop the flow of labor is

to demand that everyone, no matter where they're from or what kind of documentation they have, gets at least minimum wage.

An open border with quick and easy working papers and no mercy for industries that underpay workers would change the entire dynamic. We'd see then if these are really 'jobs Americans don't want to do.'

We've tried stopping the supply of cheap labor. Now, perhaps, we should go after the demand.
