kook and cuch

"America had gotten a good strong whiff of the left and are now running, screaming into the night. Buh-bye." kook

Cya, troll. Your Xbox missed ya!

"...we on the left wouldn't have bailed out Wall Street. We wouldn't have cut sweetheart deals with the banksters. We wouldn't have even considered escalating the war in Afghanistan, which Obama will probably do. We would have closed down Gitmo and moved up the time to get out of Iraq. We would go for Single Payer, Universal health care, not the watered-down compromise of a compromise now in question. Our stimulus bill wouldn't have been handcuffed by conservadems. We would have tripled it and used reconciliation to get it through. We would have raised taxes on the richest 1%, and closed corporate loopholes which allow them to pay zero in taxes. We would have invested big time in the things I mentioned earlier -- physical and virtual infrastructure, etc.

The only way Obama could be said to show the failure of lefty policies would be if he actually tried to implement them. He hasn't, except along the margins. Again, he's governed as a centrist.

Strange that you and so many other righties think that centrist policies show the failure of left-wing policies." Cuch

Exactly! Thanx to you and some of the other folks here for taking up the cudgel and smacking this simian down. Or handing him the gun and letting him pistol whip himself to death- which of course he obligingly did.

I got about as far as...

this:

"Now hold your horses, you snarky, lefty, NPR-listening, New York Times-subscribing readers of Salon. I haven't jumped ship to declare Sarah Palin herself "great." I'm from California, after all; I am not a creationist, I am not pro-life, I have never shot a moose. Nor is my culinary specialty an Alaskan dish called "moose chili." Here on the Left Coast, along with our hummus, we prefer "turkey chili," which is perhaps less gamey and lower in fat but in the end, I ask you, is it really more humane?"

And it was all I could stomach. Why? Because it is bad enough that the wingnuts like to characterize us non-Republican left coasters this way, but this kind of bullshit from what I'm sure Sandra Tsing-Loh would like to have us readers believe is some kind of dittohead cartoon of a liberal Democrat really pisses me off. I've got news for you, Sandra and your editor- I'm from CA. I don't think Obama is progressive enough. I am armed, have a 4WD pick-up truck, drink beer and am definitely a carnivore. I'm pro-choice- NOT anti-life. And while I think Sarah Worship is scary and do not intend on reading her book, it is not because I disagree with her or hate her. I am simply not interested enough to bother with it. I am familiar with AK, including her home town, so I don't need whatever education about the Alaskan perspective she may offer. Now I may be wrong about this, and I know you were just trying to be cute, but a review that starts out by reducing its intended audience to a stupid cliche has no chance of convincing me I should read this book myself, or give a damn about the reviewer's opinion of it.

thanx!

I would like to thank kookamonga and didus ineptus for endorsing my wit and wisdom in this thread, and for not just encouraging others to read my post, but in quoting it as well:

""Palin is physically attractive and perky- albeit in the manner of the homecoming queen whose omnipresent public smile hides the steel heart of the local social climber who gleefully made all the b-list girl aspirants' lives living hell back in high school."

And Mr./Ms. Carnage knows the details of Ms. Palin's behavior in high school how? Yikes, this PDS victim is ready for a straight jacket."

Uhhh… no. I said "in the manner of", didn't I? The rest is an educated guess based on her public behavior and actions in her local politics- which is a matter of public record- and does not claim to be otherwise. Thing is, kookamonkey, even with a straightjacket on I'd still thump you because, as the above example illustrates perfectly, I wouldn't have to lift a finger! If someone handed you a gun you'd shoot yourself. And should you fail to hit the target after firing all those rounds you'd pistol whip yourself to death.
