1.The Birther movement is not Republican, they dislike grassroots democracy as much as the next patrician.

Only Republicans and similar loons belong to the Birther movement.

2.Obama has caused this problem through his own obsessive secrecy. The Dem party should have vetted him properly, like McCain was, and all documents should have been released in the name of transparency.Prof.Camille Paglia forsaw this disaster in her article "Obama Surfs Through"It's on this site, read it.

"Obsessive secrecy"? I call bullshit. Every relevant document has been out there. And...how do you think the man got a passport?

3.The mainstream media have discredited themselves over this pitiful issue. Who can take CNN seriously after the Stalinist treatment handed out to their own reporters?

CNN put bullets in the back of their reporters heads? Who knew? Not that it wouldn't improve some of the reporting....

4. How many Obamaphiles thought they'd be twisting truth and logic out of shape, just a few months after voting for Hope, Change and Transparency? Be honest. If Obama was a Republican would you be calling for his eligibilty to be checked- like what McCain had to go through?

He has been checked, re-checked, and re-re-checked. Anybody who says otherwise doesn't know their facts...or is loonier than the day is long.

I'm guessin' number two in your case.

Both Shows

Both shows were great--save for the endings. But the cast of characters, the actors, the scripts--really, both, quite different from each other, were true treasures in the desert island that is most TV.

And it's typical of the shit-for-brains who run American network TV (into the ground, they're running it!) cancelled the American version. They also cancelled Kings, which was a gorgeous bit, too.

Ah well. My big consolation is that the people making these decisions--who, I think, never watch TV--will someday turn 30.

A New Tactic

It used to be that the favorite tactic of the Right around here was, "Why haven't you condemned X? You must be in favor of X if you haven't condemned it!"

Since time and attention are both finite, there were, and are, many incidents in the world that could be used this way. It's a wholly bogus argument, of course, but that's never stopped the Right.

Now we see the Right letter writers using a new tactic: "Why are you talking about X when you should be talking about Y?" as in, "Why are you talking about Rush when you should be talking about Aquino?" It's as bogus as the first tactic, but I suspect the Right finds it actually more satisfying because it includes one of their favorite components, telling other people what to do.

Hey, Right-Wing Whack Jobs! Why are you reading about Rush when you should be reading about Corazon? Why are you wasting your time reading Salon when you should be reading the National Review?

Etc. Rinse and Repeat.

I Love It!

Keep writing, Alex. Keep telling us about the fools in the Birther Movement.

I love the fact that the right-wingers around here--those whose brains haven't turned to pudding, and are part of the BM--are begging you to stop. "Write about something else," they whine. "Let this story go," they plead.

You betcha they whine and plead. They know exactly what this story makes the Right look like--how it exposes the nuttiness, the racism, the simple insanity that is the hallmark of the Right.

So Right On! Keep those BM stories coming, Alex. Let's you and the media let the people know how they've been led astray by a bunch of true loonies.

Please don't call these "myths." Call them what they are:

Lies.

Lies.

Deliberate, with malice aforethought, lies, lies, lies.

Why does the GOP feel it necessary to lie rather than, say, argue the real issues?

Because--as usual--on the real issues they lose.

It's also a matter of habit with them--I'd say that lying is second nature to them, but that's inaccurate--now it's their first nature.

Call the GOP out. Let's send people to them and ask them, straight out, "Why are you lying?"

If the press had some balls (and then newspapers would not be dying) they'd be asking these questions.

Somebody has to point out the simple truth: the GOP can only lie.
