"He lets everybody know we can whoop them any day of the week."
Given the good job we've done in both Afghanistan and Iraq, I'd say the rest of the world has concluded that they can pretty safely thumb their noses at us.
"Don't read too much into how Iran responds to Hillary. Hillary only said we could obliterate them."
That's right. There's nothing like talk about casual genocide from a presidential candidate to make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. There's nothing like hearing from a presidential candidate that she would readily consider turning innocent women and children into glass and living candles without a moral qualm. There's nothing like the smell of human smoke to make my mouth water.
Jesus wept, folks. There's hardly a reed's worth of difference between John "Genocide Now" McCain and Hillary "Genocide Now" Clinton.
This kind of letter--not to speak of this kind of political position--makes me sick to my stomach.
"There are more right and less right ways to live."
Of course! And I know you'll agree that my way is far more right than your way. How it could be otherwise?
There are good actions, and evil actions. Condemning others and denying them human rights for whom they consentingly screw is an evil action.
Rereading this article, I found this:
"Obama's statement, meanwhile, doesn't mention Clinton by name,"
No note that Clinton's statement doesn't mention Obama by name, and that by mentioning Bush, Clinton does the same thing that Obama does.
But hey, let's try to smear Obama while not noting anything specific about HRC. Because that's what Salon has become: an outlet for anti-BHO, pro-HRC propaganda.
"Take on price-gouging by oil companies."
You're comparing apples with oranges. Obama wants to take on the wholesale side; your analysis deals with the retail side. You might want to educate yourself somewhat on the issues before you write about them, although I must admit this hasn't been Salon's strong suit since it decided to become an outlet for Clinton propagand.
"...who you can count on to stand up for you and to work for you and to fight for you."
I've been thinking about Clinton the Fighter. She gave in to Bush on Iraq; she gave in to Bush on Iran. She gave in to McCain, first saying he had more qualifications than Obama, then saying that his gas tax holiday was a great idea she could get behind.
So I'm thinkin', who's she fighting?
The simple answer to this, of course, is Obama.
Her ideas don't differ that much, in many respects, from the GOP. She's a corporationist, a war lover (probably explains Bill), a me-tooer. The only person she's chosen to fight is the one who's promised to bring change to Washington.
"'I am leaving, I am leaving,' but the fighter still remains."
If HRC had been smart, rather than obsessed, she'd have gotten out of the race right after Wisconsin, preserving her ability to run in four or eight years. At this point, with her scorched earth policy, with her supporters telling us overtly that they won't support any nominee save for her, with her racially divisive tactics, with positions that don't differ significantly from McCain, and with her promise to obliterate Iran and turn innocent women and children to glass and human smoke--she's not only lost the nomination this time, she's lost every thoughtful liberal Democrat for her lifetime.
Wow, Greenjob, nice work at spin. Equating BHO's statement about voters perhaps not going for Clinton with Clinton's supporters saying they would never vote for BHO--sure, it's not the same thing, but if you're not paying attention, maybe you might think it is.
Similarly, trying to equate comments that would BHO "the black candidate" rather than "a candidate who is black" with BHO's comments about his own life experience--once again, if folks are snoozing while reading, they might buy it.
"Because we all know that when Obama promises to bomb Pakistan, that's OK."
I understand how convenient it is for you and yours to obliterate (oh my, there's that word again) the distinction between targeted bombings of terrorists and using nukes against a whole country--I understand, because I wouldn't want to defend casual genocidal talk either. Gosh, it would make me very embarassed! So sure, do your best to do what the Clintons do best: spin.
It comes down to this: McCain supported the war, HRC supported the war. McCain supports the obliteration of Iran, HRC supports the obliteration of Iran. McCain panders with a gas tax holiday, HRC panders with a gas tax holiday. As John Stewart said last night, HRC would be McCain's perfect choice for a running mate.
But y'know? I'll vote for HRC if she's the nominee in the fall. Will you and yours say the same about BHO?
I ain't holdin' my breath for the answer.
