I'm not one to be impressed by her, not even a little bit. I don't consider her to be a great woman nor a groundbreaking figure. She has been riding the coat tails of Bill. You can talk about how strong and independent she was but she frequently said, "In my husband's administration..." To me, no matter how you look at it, if she was married to another lawyer other than Bill, she herself would most likely be a practicing lawyer herself. When another woman, who is self-made gets there, then I'll be impressed.
"a glorious release of pent up energy", what a steaming heap. When I think of such a statement, it's not about a bunch of tasteless and gaudy rich people who I might speculate have a less than even chance of getting to that point in a semi-respectable/legal fashion. What was this writer smoking?
I experienced the same thing with a dangerously serrated knife. When I pointed out that the above mentioned dangerously serrated knife was an airline butter "knife" that I had for years was from the same carrier and had their logo on it, I had just gotten off of internationally and would be getting back on the same carrier shortly. That was the point for me when I knew the TSA had truly jumped the shark.
I'm going to be flying internationally in the fall, but for the rest of it, I don't just don't feel like flying any more.
I still wear the same size pants as I did in high school and have the same body fat percentage. I'm 44, but most people guess I'm 32, and am an expert class mountain biker. A six hour race is no biggie for me. The only reason I'd possibly go to such a reunion is to meet all the jocks in high school who gave me a hard time and see how fat they've gotten and how poorly they've aged. Other than that, I wouldn't dream of going.
Petty on my part? Yeah, it sure is. But so what?
this money was compensation for the government-mandated shutdown of the airways for several days and for the massive downturn in traffic, fueled by fears of terrorism, that lasted for weeks afterward
The five day shutdown issue is certainly arguable as not being a bailout. The second part completely confirms that it is. Yeah, their traffic cratered in the following weeks but so what, that's business. The airlines were bailed out plain and simple.
This notion that cyclists are some special sort of scofflaw is just complete and total BS. I am not saying that all follow the law, no they don't, duh. I challenge you to go to an interstate and see how many people are following the speed limits, driving distracted, etc, etc. So a cyclist might break the law 5% of the time they are riding, your average motorist driving across a state would be breaking the law 95% of the time.
