I agree. I also wonder if such a person would allow himself to get arrested, or if he would start shooting, just to show how "free" he is. I also think that this has been the NRA's goal all along--to use the 2nd amendment as a stalking horse for absolute power and vigilante rule. Why else make sure that everyone with a right wing agenda is fully armed?
He's lost this voter AND campaign contributor. And I WILL work against him.
I once met a woman who had worked for TK in the senate. She was from North Carolina, and fairly well connected. Her main job for TK was to go over to the office of Jesse Helms and chat him up about common friends and what all was going on back in North Carolina. Then, when she had softened him up and gotten him in a good mood, she would ask him for some concession on a bill that TK wanted. So horse-trading isn't all that simple or all that bad. You can take this story as a sign of corruption or you can take it as a sign that the Senate is a club and people have to get along. I do think that conservatives and liberals have different personality types. Liberals can't help being empathetic (seeing the other person's point of view) and conservatives can't help being, what's the nice way to put it? Single-minded, impulsive, selfish (oh, sorry). Liberals are weaker because of their empathy, but empathy is contagious. COnservatives are stronger because of their self-centeredness, but also off-putting. So civilization GRADUALLY gets more liberal. That's the hopeful part.
The US doesn't deserve to be saved either from the health care crisis or from climate change. If the "people" buy rightwing propaganda, it's sort of like someone riding that Harley without a helmet--finally, you have to give up on them and accept the fact that they are too stupid to save.
There were a few of the columns still posted at the Guardian website when the book came out in the UK, and the children they described were horrible nightmare teens, so I thought at the time that maybe Myerson was wreaking her revenge, or leaving a record in case the darlings murdered her out of sheer spitefulness. I have had five tenns, so I know teens and these were the worst I ever heard of. So, my sympathies are with her, to an extent. But really if what she says about the kid is true, then what does she owe him? He was a jerk and impossible to live with, Skunk or no. As for writing about your kids, well, if your kids are interesting, how can you resist? No one says that Kaylie Jones shouldn't have written about her crazy mother.
how many people here have never been scammed or cheated, have never been left holding the bag, and are always onto every trick that the scam artists have devised to relieve them of their money. Here's another one--be sure to blame the victim, so that you don't have to pass any regulations to reel in the scammers, and so that you don't have to, God forbid, give up your precious sense of superiority. When your health insurance drops you for not getting out your microscope and using it to read the fine print of your policy, don't come crying to me. This is what deregulation is about--letting the criminals take over. No gun laws? Fine. Drive as fast as you want anywhere you want? Go for it. Sell tainted food to children? Bully for you. Treat the housing market like a casino? What a great idea! You, too, can end up like Phil Gramm--old, ugly, self-righteous and evil.
You write like such a snot. You have the secret, and we get to figure it out! How great for you! Are you using the secret to reconfigure the Greenland ice sheet? If so, please don't be so coy.
quite well. When she started she was not manic or depressive. She was a little out to lunch and didn't realize what the odd were. And then she was lucky. But never crazy.

because his father fought in Vietnam, 101st Airborne. When he came home, he was tired of guns.
is a true genius.
is that the insurance companies bought off O long long ago, and the public option has been merely pr. What O loses if we don't get the public option is any sense that he has integrity or progressive values. No public option, and he is just another corrupt oligarch, in bed with the corporations. I am sorry for those who have preexisting conditions. The Republicans and gun toters are NOT sorry for them. Without the public option, the insurance companies will just continue to profit, so who cares? The country is done for. The Republicans lost the election but won the war. And they know it. And they will press their advantage.
I think that what old people should do is get kinder, more enlightened, more generous, and more ready to give to their children and other young people. I think they should understand life enough to know that death is inevitable, and not that bad. They should be used to thinking about it. My grandmother was my ideal old person. She died at 96. But I have to say, she is the last one I ever met who conforms to the ideal.
