Mixed feelings

Awright- I suppose it would be a waste of time for a censure resolution, had the matter simply ended when it did.

However, according to the latest dispatch from MoveOn, Mr. Wilson evidently has been shamelessly flogging a video of his outburst in order to solicit donations to his re-election war chest.

To me, that couldn't be a clearer "Fuck You!" especially given his insincere apology to begin with.

Still, what good is a censure? If you all are as pissed off at this clown as I am, we should all be pouring lots of greenbacks into his opponent's war chest. That might at least do some good, and in the only language the GOP understands.

Doesn't anyone who murders

have serious mental issues, by definition?

I always wondered how one differentiates that honestly.

Friday, September 11, 2009 03:03 PM

Actually, no more mixed feelings.

Forget the censure resolution.

What good would that be against anyone who never had any shame to begin with?

Raising lots of money for his oppoment is the proper response, here.

Re. Lester Maddox

LOL, this brought to mind a great old Gilbert Shelton comic strip:

Hopefully, you can enlarge it. It's a gem!

Maybe Hunter S. Thompson was onto something...

...when he uttered this classic from F&LiLV:

"Few people understand the psychology of dealing with a highway traffic cop. Your normal speeder will panic and immediately pull over to the side. This is wrong. It arouses contempt in the cop-heart. Make the bastard chase you. He will follow. "

Quite likely, Obama's attempts at bipartisanship is arousing contempt in the GOP-he... um.. well- you get the idea. What do y'all think about that?

@BlackCat

And the Fairness Doctrine ought to be brought back, and strengthened.

YES! Besides, think of how wonderful the FD will be to all the poor, oppressed conservatives who haven't been able to have their voices heard over the incessant propoganda spewed by the dreaded "Liberal Media."

(Try that one out on your favorite wingnut)

@ohiopolitico and all other lamers with a hard-on for ACORN...

The fabled bank robber Willie Sutton was rumored to have answered the question, "Why do you rob banks?"

"Because that's where the money is!" he replied.

Folks, ACORN ain't where the money is, but go ahead and keep flogging away.

We'll keep laughing.

Original article: The making of Glenn Beck

Couldn't you find...

...someone more significant and useful than this clown, on whom to lavish all this attention?

Strangely pointless story.

Must be a slow news week.

Geeze, Louise!

Well, maybe, SpiralUp, but nothing surprises me anymore. I don't even bother paying attention anymore. Life is good with no TV!

(although the public TV's are a perpetual nuisance to this frequent flyer)

Besides...

What else could anyone possibly need to know besides the obvious- that Glen Beck is nothing more than your run-of-the mill Media Whore.

I personally don't care why he is a media whore, I just pray every day for a Monty Python 16 Ton deadweight to fall from the heavens onto his tiny little head.

@flys-

Yeah, I know all about TV-B-Gone. It's quite a dastardly little device.

Unfortunately, despite the sometimes overwhelming temptation to do so, getting one would make me a poor Liberal.

@Imnopr

The left is upset because Glenn Beck was responsible for ousting Van Jones.

Well, I can't speak for the entire left, but I hate GB because he is a lying sack of shit. I love debating facts with the opposition, but we get nothing but BS and fairy tails from him and his cohorts.

Liberals generally do not suffer fools gladly. It has nothing to do with an aversion to confronting different points of view.

But of course, you wouldn't understand that.

Hence the hate. Got it?

@spectralmist. Epic Fail!

I'm a Democrat of 36 years, and a liberal ... who doesn't believe in anthropogenic global warming. If you look at temperatures over the last decade, they've been falling...

Oh really? Ten whole years, hunh?

That's some mighty weak tea you're brewing there, buddy. It's laughable that anyone who professes to know anything at all about this kind of climate change would discuss it that context.

Get a clue. You have no idea what you're talking about.

Bogus Petitions... Thanks, dwg!

Drive-by Bile

Yep, lots of (likely) ill-considered comments.

This was an emotional piece- not surprising that it stirs the passions of those willing to advance social justice. I'm nonetheless baffled by some of the negative comments towards the author. A certain inevitable percent are garden-variety trollery, but perhaps many others can be explained by a certain naiivte.

Many focused on Cindy's comment, "...the short answer is no." (emphasis mine).

OK, so you drove by here, posted a comment that seems to have come from the gut- your "short answer" so to speak.

I think there was a great deal of meaning in Cindy's "short" that she didn't expound upon. Perhaps that is true of your comments, as well?

I'd like to invite those of you who expressed disgust at Cindy's article to first read what other commenters wrote, and then return to further articulate your emnity. While doing so, I personally would be interested in what your life experiences have been. How old are you? What kind of work do you do, or are you still in school? Are you a trust-fund kid?

@youngservative

Did the voices in your head tell you to say that?

@Alcyone

What about people like us who got taken by predatory lenders?

What about you? You gambled and lost. Hope you learned something from that.
