Chronic Victimhood as expressed by the RWA's is remarkably similar to one of the most central manifestations of Borderline Personality Disorder, as well as other PD's, but especially BPD and Narcissistic PD.
Unfortunately, having spent many years with a BPD, I know all too well how that works. It seems that the GOP strategists have deliberately patterned their campaigns and modes of public discourse after the very same psychological techniques used by BPD's against their victims. No doubt, they did this because these techniques work. Read up on PD's, and learn how they operate. Your hair will stand on end.
Just remember this:
If you are a normally mild-mannered and non-violent person, but are suddenly and overwhelmingly posessed by a desire to choke the living shit out of someone, that "someone" probably has a PD...
... or is a RWA.
Same damn difference to me.
@fightthetheocracyWhat would it take to get these idiots to stop pretending victimhood?
Chronic victimhood is a complicated condition that has metastasized around the GOP (but obviously strikes people from all walks of life). There's nothing anyone outside that group can do. Generally, the cure is usually found through therapy where one clearly assesses all the things in one's life over which one has power. This helps combat the feelings of powerlessness which breed victimhood.
Of course, such an approach would first require the stricken to accept that they have a problem. Trouble is, perpetual victimhood is all that republicans have going for them. Far from seeing it as a problem, for them it's the guiding light.
I'm just waiting for one of these perpetual victims to finally take up arms against his imaginary oppressors, and start blowing shit up.

Evidently, Rush has discovered an off-label indication for the use of Oxycontin...
...it allows one to minimally function despite an otherwise unbearable load of cognitive dissonance.
Time to buy stock in Purdue Pharma- I expect sales to go through the roof as legions of dittoheads turn to the magic pill in a vain attempt to emulate their hero and keep their heads from exploding.
He Looks LikeHe's on drugs again.
I kind of pity him. With "fans" like that, I'd have to take drugs, too.

...and that is, "conservatives" (contemporary definition) haven't stood for any of these things, in deed, for over 40 years, if ever. If you get to know a few moderate Democrats, you'd be surpised at how much you have in common with them. The conservatives (former definition) of whom you speak, pretty much defected to the other side of the aisle long ago. You might be more comfortable on our side than you think.
All Conservatives are greedy and (add you adjective)I am a conservative. I am not greedy, fat, or ripping off my neighbor, or noting Rush Limbaugh's every word. I am a 40-something woman who believes in a woman's rights to choose and who favors a strong educational system in America. I am not religious.
The stereotype of a conservative is patently unfair. I came by my political ideals just as you all did---education, region, values, etc.
I am a conservative because I favor less government intervention in my life. I favor a smaller government in general. I believe in my own ability--and in your ability--to take advantage of the multitude of tools our country provides to get an education and to further my goals (and my paycheck) by taking personal responsibility for my life.
I don't believe this country owes me anything simply because I exist. It is my responsibility to take care of the health of my family and for myself. It is my responsibility to find a new job if I lose one, to rebuild my house if it blows down. It is my responsibility to pay my mortgage on time and read the small print when I sign something. I take personal responsibility for my actions, for my successes and failures.
I understand that financial and weather related crises can arise, and when they do, it will be my responsibility to see my family through them. I believe in my ability to do this and I believe in your ability to do this, too.
Some of the finest people I have ever met have come from compromised circumstances in their lives---ghettos, broken families, countries at war. They serve as examples to all of us as to the power of the human spirit. I am a conservative because I believe that my party--at heart--believes that each individual has the right, the power and the creativity to be everything they want to be. It's hard work--self evolution--but it's the best work.
When I read the comments here written by liberals, it makes my stomach turn. You all sound angry, bitter and beaten down.
Watch out! Looks like the RW blogosphere has found this article, and is now sending their minions of mouth-breathers to drive by and take a crap on this thread.
I just saw a few, with the usual tired rants on the "Hateful Left."
Sure.
Project much?
You're all waaaay out of your intellectual league, here. When you're done spouting here, you can all go back to shouting at the rain.
