What was the name of that Abbot & Costello movie?

appropos of:

@emily_tc

Please tell me how Hilary would have been a more viable candidate than Obama. Die-hard Hilary supporters keep coming on the letters threads and making that statement apropo of nothing.

I keep asking this question and none of Hilary's supporters ever answer it and I think it goes directly to the heart of Hilary's viability. What about Bill? How would Hilary have outlined what Bill's role would have been if she were to have won the GE? How would we have kept the media and rethugs from wanting to re-fight every year of Bill's presidency? Has Bill been a good boy the past 8 years?

All these questions would have come up in the GE with Hilary as the Dem candidate. Please tell me how they would have been answered.

Underanothername- there will be no answer because this is no real HRC supporter. Just a private in the Operation Chaos army who is still on patrol on a deserted island, marching back and forth in a deep trench worn with her own boots- a mountain of empty tin cans of beans in the background.

That war is over. Guess Emily never got the memo.

Maybe, just maybe...

...the collective thieving garbage that looted our treasure might find themselves beset by bloodthirsty pirates as they sail to their private tax-sheltered islands in their bullion-laden yachts.

Avast, me boys! Bring me some fine tar fer me pigtails and sail away!

Sigh.

@LIVEnAK

Oh please...

Please... Do you really think any of us here think you're nothing but yet ANOTHER goddamn PR hack that has been infesting Salon's letter pages like a bad case of the crabs, especially lately?

As if that wasn't bad enough, you are also an uncreative douchebag. Try crafting something a little more clever than regurgitating your puppetmaster's talking points.

Write more betterer, get a raise.

Fuck you, and the horse you rode in on. You fool no one.

Hey TonyDavidson...

WPRFDYWF?

You have in interesting letters history here at Salon. In fact, if I were clairvoyant, I'd say that your're just another one of those PR hacks that has been infesting Salon's comments pages here like a bad case of crabs.

But I'm not clairvoyant. I do, however, subscribe to the "Walks like a Duck" test. You know the rest.

Have a sunny day!

Random musings...

"Kids are not little adults. They are un-formed savages. They HAVE no better nature" - read that somewhere.

Much good advice here, along with the ususal nonsene from the Peanut Gallery.

I'm 47, and my parents were not shy about making it known who's boss. The kind of behavior described in this story would have been BEYOND imagaination for me and my siblings. Dad was a bit heavy-handed, and I was resentful and had my feelings hurt, but I got over it. I have to say Mom and Dad did pretty well, considering that I was shipped without a user's manual.

Two years of age is, indeed, a very scary time for the little guy. He is slowly becoming aware that the whole world, in fact, does NOT revolve around him, as it had in the past. Would you give up that without a good struggle?

Kids (and not a few adults) need to be shown how everything is connected. People depend on each other for their survival (not a very popular POV in these days, in these United States, but that doesn't make it any less true). Hopefully, too, he'll learn that the entire world is his home, and that he has to take care of it- and not to shit where he eats (or where his daddy walks, for that matter).

One thing that hasn't been suggested yet (granted, he might still be a little young- but it's worth a try) is to begin taking him out into the world- seeing things, animals, people, and how they relate to his world. Model being of service to him. Have him participate in activities that show him that he is not the only one in the world. Give him a sense that he is really only a tiny cog in the whole web of existence. Might be a good antidote for his natural self-centeredness.

Finally- as others have pointed out, you messed-up big-time with the ascension to his demands. Others have already explained why, much better than I can.

But- I enjoyed your candor, and willingness to share your story. You made some mistakes, but it looks like you're willing to try some new things.

Best of luck to you and your family.

The Question of the Day...

...we all need to ask here is

WPRFDYWF?

Which PR firm do you work for?

Monday, September 8, 2008 09:47 AM

@hootowl- Nice strawman ya got there

"and you want to shove your beliefs on everyone else

even if that belief is your "right" to never be exposed to any religious symbol or icon anywhere, challenging every last Christmas tree in the townhall legally."

This isn't about religious symbols or icons- it's about legislation that actively ruins people's lives.

Listen- if you're going to make any headway with this crowd, you'll have to do better than Mr. Strawman- and a lame one at that.

Better Trolls, Please!

BTW,
