@rrheard: You can always put them in the water...

...and see if they float. Haven't tried that yet.

----------------------

full blown red herring . . .

if all they have on "alleged terrorists" is their "coereced confessions" then they've got bupkis and should be released. If they've got other evidence that tends to prove they're an actual imminent threat or have commited some crime other than a "thought" crime then a conviction in a court of law could be obtained. There is no "other" morally justifiable system or administratively workable one that will yield some semblance of justice. Ours took more than 900 years to build and is perfectly capable of dealing with those currently being detained. GG knows it, every lawyer in America knows it, and Obama knows it. The powerful will never ever allow that because to do so is to prove that what already happened (rendition, torture, illegal detention) was and is illegal. Don't hold your breath for justice on this one.

My toilet is backed up...

Can anyone refer me to a journalist who can come over this afternoon?

Good grief! This is CLASSIC Borderline Personality Disordered behavior!

People,

Look up "BPD." Look up the behavior called "splitting." BPD's don't do nuance- they live in a Black and White world, where things (and people!) are either all good or all bad.

Cross a BPD and they will "Split you Black." By the way, BPD is often co-morbid with N(arcissistic)PD. The GOP helped SP mainline her NS (narcissistic supply) from public adoration in the media, and she ain't giving it up. Talk about creating a monster!

Everyone needs to know about BPD. Learn and protect yourself from destructive relationships with emotional vampires. Learn and protect yourself from professional politicians (Blago and most of the GOP come to mind.)

I lived with a BPD in my household for many years. I know what I am talking about.

Oh yeah, one more thing...

...If you are a normally mild-mannered well balanced and non-violent person, yet you are consumed by an overwhelming desire to choke the living shit out of someone, then you are probably dealing with a Personality Disorder.

Oops- fixing an ambiguity

...If you are a normally mild-mannered, well balanced and non-violent person, yet you are consumed by an overwhelming desire to choke the living shit out of someone, then that "someone" probably has a Personality Disorder.

@Rosenkavelier, re SP's Maturity

Partners of BPD regularly describe them as "An ill-mannered toddler in an adult body."

@vasumurti...

Also a few years ago, I told my friend Greg, who is gay, that I don't even have any opposition to same-sex marriages, as long as churches, synagogues, and other religious institutions aren't forced to recognize them. In one of his broadcasts from a few years ago, Sean Hannity warned viewers about a future in which churches that refuse to recognize same-sex marriages lose their tax-exempt status.

Greg dismissed Sean Hannity's words as right-wing propaganda.

---------------

Wow. I must have been asleep for the last 20 years. I never recall anyone agitating, not only for the legalization of SSM, but ALSO FOR DEMANDING THAT RELIGIOUS INSTITUTIONS SANCTIFY SSM'S??

Did I miss something here?

I mean, WTF?? Vasu, you should know better.

-------

Look- it's obvious. The word M-A-R-R-I-A-G-E has obviously become religiously-loaded, and not a few religious leaders wish to claim that word for their own exclusive use. So I say, fine. Let them have it.

Meanwhile, let us see a LEGAL construct that can be a 100% cut-and-paste job from EXISTING MARRIAGE statutes, that confer EXACTLY the SAME rights and responsibilities as HET MARRIAGE to Same-Sex Couples. After that, you can call that piece of legislation anything you damn well please. You can call it a Civil Union contract- hell, some of my Gay friends would even happily (just to stick it in the eyes of religious nutjobs)call it a "Sodomite Cohibation Contract" if it allowed them the same rights (and you should know what those are by now) as Straight marrieds. Just get the damn law on the books, already!

This was fucking brilliant!

Good.

As a progressive citizen living under the Eastern Star, hats off to TN Dems!

In a state full of people who act like oppositionally-defiant 2-year-olds (ain't no damn nigger telling ME what to do!) who have been sucking at the overwhelmingly blue-state funded Federal Teat forever, and YET vote red out of pique, this is welcome news indeed.

I just love seeing the trembling apoplectic pale piggy faces, popping veins and all.

Let the dirty fuckers squeal like stuck pigs. Very funny to see them all full of self-righteous fury after being so ARTFULLY given a dose of their own foul piss.

What's sweeter still is that this lovely end-run was 100% legal.

I'm looking forward to a lot more impotent bullies running home to mommy after getting their noses bloodied by Democrats who have had enough of their shit. We're the winners, here. Glad to see some aren't afraid to act like it!

@Elephantman

Well, One can only go with what they know.

Looks like a class act and a cordial evening.

I can't speak for others, but this is what I am hoping to see more of. I can't see how anyone Conservative or not, couldn't fail to have a cordial evening with Obama.

Obama is a thinker, and so are lots and lots of earnest folks on the right. The problem remains that their voices get drowned out by the drool of the chattering classes.

People telling the truth in civil tones is a good start. It is an example to follow.

(singing)

...You ask me for a contribution, well you know

We're all doin' what we can

If you want money for people with minds that hate

All I can tell you is buddy, you'll have to wait..

Are you listening, Rush? Turn up the ol' Belltone, now.

Really, some of this Republican behavior is so utterly decent that it must make you nauseous. I sure hope so.
