How can you possibly blame the Dalai Lama or the Tibetans for the fact that Tibet was invaded by China with shocking brutality. The Tibetans have been in a cage ever since. They have no freedom of expression, they cannot choose the government they want, they are rounded up by the Gestapo- like Chinese police and secret service at the whim of China and treated with monstrous brutality and even killed, simply for wanting their country back and wanting their human rights. But, of course, America has done exactly the same in Iraq, perhaps that explains your attack on the Dalai Lama rather than on China. If the world was serious about ending despotism all athletes of conscience would simply refuse to go the Beijing Olympics. But they won't, of course. The world held its nose and went to Hitler's Olympics too. There's a shitload of money involved and the Olympic Committee is thinking only of that. I personally hope that this olympics is dogged by activists and closed down. Rewarding monstrous behaviour never has a good outcome. Bear in mind that the Tibetans have been involved in peaceful protests for years and the Chinese have responded with complete inhumanity and the cruellest oppression imaginable. They deserve to have their olympics ruined: it's a small price to pay for what they've done to peaceloving Tibetans and to their own people who also have no liberty and no rights. Oh and just so you don't get confused - the Dalai Lama's the good guy, the Chinese government are the fascists.

Re Noam Chomsky: he's written a book simply called '9/11' and it contains some very shocking information that no one is ever going to see or hear on Fox or CNN. Anyone who wants the real background to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan should read it. As the Iraqi academic on Charlie Rose's show pointed out, none of this started in 2001 or 2003.

[Read more letters about this article: Here]Hello! Wake up! This is part of what 9/11 was all about. One of the neo conmen said 'Now we can do things we've wanted to do for years.' To these fanatics the real enemy has always been American liberals and dissidents and 9/11 gave them the legal ability to go after them as never before. Why do you think they let the top Taliban they had in Guantanamo Bay go and kept people like photographers, journalists, taxi drivers
and teenagers too young to be charged as adults in the normal legal system? The last thing they want is to put anyone on trial who actually knows anything about 9/11. How messy. And why do you think former inmates of Guantanamo Bay said that when they were tortured they only wanted them to admit one thing: that they were members of Al Qaida. Considering that the torturers knew they weren't, this is very strange behaviour. I wonder how many more people's lives are going to be ruined by these thugs before Americans say enough is enough. In a way they are worse than the Nazis who carried out their crimes in a dictatorship. These criminals operate in what is ostensibly a democracy, meaning this could happen to any democratic country given the right circumstances. Their war with progress never ends and that's what lies behind the 'war on terror' which they say (naturally enough) will also never end. They are a threat to the law, to the constitution and to every citizen. The answer: don't elect the bastards. If George Bush II hadn't been re-elected America would already be out of Iraq and a lot of dirty laundry would already have been washed and maybe some people who actually deserve to be in jail would already be there.
