[Read the article: Oligarchical decay]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]The 9/11 Commission was a strange beast. What it really uncovered we may never know. The truth is, that if it did uncover anything, it very quickly buried it again. Thomas H. Kean, head of the Commission, was in disbelief at what they found went on that day but he got nowhere in his questioning of NORAD and why nothing was done by the United States Airforce with those hijacked planes apparently whirling through the skies. To quote Kean: "We don't know to this day why NORAD told us what they told us. It was just so far from the truth.' What he was up against is clear when you read that Generals and Colonels told the 9/11 Commission that NORAD started tracking United 93 at 9.16am but the Commission later determined from tapes it supoenaed that the airliner wasn't hijacked until twelve minutes after that. Why didn't the 9/11 Commission investigate the truth of what happened to the black box recorders off these hijacked flights? The government claims they were never recovered but a fireman, Nicholas di Masri, wrote a book in which he claims he and other ground zero workers (firemen) escorted federal agents on an all terrain vehicle in October 2001 and helped them to recover 3 of the 4 black boxes from the planes. What happened to them? Why have they been concealed or destroyed? Why didn't the 9/11 Commission investigate what went on with the 'bringing down' of World Trade Centre building number seven? A building which its owner has admitted on 'Today' on national television, was demolished by explosives? Mr. Silverstein (owner of WTC 7 and the entire World Trade Centre) said that the NY fire department phoned him after the Twin Towers came down and told him that building number 7 was 'unsafe' and would have to be 'pulled' slang for demolished. Apart from the fact that no one in their right mind was going to go back into what they regarded as a war zone to demolish a building, to bring a building like that down takes weeks of planning and weeks of planting explosives in exactly the right place. It couldn't have happened the way he says it did. Why wasn't that investigated? It has also been established that the alleged 9/11 hijackers had a support network in the U.S. that included agents of the Saudi government and that the Bush administration and the FBI blocked a congressional investigation into that relationship. In his book 'Intelligence Matters' Senator Bob Graham revealed that details of financial support from Saudi Arabia for those agents was in 27 pages of a Congressional report. This report was blocked from release by the Bush administation even though leaders of both the Republican and Democrat parties pleaded for its release. Why hasn't this been investigated? Especially with reference to the behaviour of Bush and Cheney in this matter. They both demonstrated what any policeman on the beat would tell you is what they call 'guilty knowledge'. Lies, evasions and cover ups that seem to serve no purpose but serve a purpose for the criminal, who knows the exact details of his crime. When you talk about the destruction of these interrogation tapes you're in tip-of-the-iceberg land.
