  • Catherine 100 times wrong

[Read the article: If we leave Iraq, do we lose for good?]

You answered my rant with the facts? No, you answered my facts with a rant. You seem to be barely literate which would explain your fellow feeling for Bush. You don't seem to focus much on Cheney. Even you can't find anything good to say about The Prince of Darkness. The man who sat in the bunker on 9/11 and watched a plane flying towards the Pentagon for FORTY MINUTES and did nothing. Where was your wonderful President while all this was going on? He went off to a 'secret location'. Doesn't any of this seem the slightest bit fishy to you? According to your own constitution Bush should have been in the bunker that day not Cheney. And that was only the start of their lawbreaking and disregard for the truth. Most of what you said about Clinton is Republican propaganda long since discounted by objective observers. The planes full of cash never happened and I saw the man who told that story on TV repenting and saying the Republicans fabricated many such stories -with his help- all in an attempt to destroy Bill Clinton and in particular to prevent him from being re-elected. In spite of that he was re-elected and if he could have run a third time he would have been elected again. The fact is, you represent a minority of Americans who refuse to see Bush and Cheney for what they are and blame Clinton for everything up to and including the San Francisco earthquake. Reagan just about bankrupted America with his mania for cutting taxes for the rich and interfering in other people's wars. Now who does that remind me of?

  • More and more desperately wrong Catherine

Now, concentrate. I was referring to the drug money Clinton is supposed to have flown around in planes. I saw the man who spread this story for the Republicans on TV -it was his job at the time. Yes, they paid him to do it. He stated that this was a lie. Do you know what a lie is? It's not TRUE. He even apologized for what he had done in the service of the Republican party. He'd had some kind of change of heart and realized what he'd done was wrong. All these stories were lies. Whitewater was a lie. It was Republican propaganda. Most of what you believe Bill Clinton did, he never did. You have been lied to. Your hatred of his wife is based on lies about her. The thing is, I know fascists when I see or hear them, whether they're white South Africans like the one who phoned me and told me I was a fool not to see the benefits of apartheid after I wrote a letter to the paper on the subject; or whether they're reformed drunks like Bush or corporate thugs working for the military-industrial complex like Cheney. Clinton was not a fascist or a thug. He was one of the better Presidents America has had. The far right hates him because he held up their 2001 project for eight years. How you could possibly work out which percentage of Americans really supported Clinton when most of the electorate doesn't even bother to vote amazes me. The fact is, he really did win two elections and could have won a third. Bush has stolen two elections, thanks to the Supreme Court and his friend, the entrepreneur who owned the company that makes the voting machines, which means he's still a loser. And now he's Nixon, holed up in the White House bubble waiting for the shit to hit the fan. And it will.

  • How ghastly

O, Lordy! Don't tell me Clinton and Edwards are behaving like, shock, horror, politicians! Can this be true? Anyone would think they were running for public office.

  • The ghost who walks

[Read the article: Senate agrees on Iran and bin Laden]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Whatever the Senate thinks or does, bin Laden will never be captured however big the reward is. For one thing, there's a strong possibility he's already dead but he's much too useful to the Bush administration to let that particular cat out of the bag. The other thing is that he just knows way too much about the CIA and it's close ally the ISI (the Pakistani secret service) to ever be taken alive. What bin Laden knows will go to the grave with him and it's likely that it already has. Every time I hear that Al Qaida has regrouped and is about to attack America I know Bush and Cheney are in trouble and need a distraction. Like now, for instance.
