Give Wareen a Break

I fail to see what all the vitrol and accusations are about.

What if McCain had the opportunity to give his canned answers to Warren's evangelical audience and Obama hadn't even been invited? Wouldn't we all be screaming about their lack of inclusiveness?

What if Obama had done a better job? He didn't do a bad job, but he wasn't crisp. Nor was he in the Primary debates. He needs to learn to be. And soon.

I've never read any of Warren's books and don't plan to, but I'm glad he's more broad-minded and inclusive than Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwall (sp?),et al. and not as smarmy as Olstein. Yeah, I thought McCain's answers were too pat and too on-point for that crowd to be believed. He was well coached by some evangelical. Obama, being more comfortable and genuine about his Christianity, probably felt he didn't need coaching. And he didn't, as to content (he can't lie about his positions), just as to form. Anyway, I feel like thanking Warren for his outreach rather than throwing, perhaps questionable, accusations at him.

Let's Get the Show on the Road!

Yeah, moved earlier. Obama's wasting time he doesn't have. He needs help from someone seasoned. It's gotten to be kind of a crazy unveiling - Microsoft rolls out its new software. Let's hope this unveiling works better.

Our last two Democratic candidates haven't had a good track record in their choices, in retrospect. To wit, Joe Lieberman and John Edwards. Both have disgraced themselves and betrayed their party.

We got to do better!

Pundits Be Gone!

Out-of-the-park speeches by both Clintons. Will the pundits leave them alone now? or at least stop assuming the worst everytime? Probably not. But we can stop listening to the pundits.

Cringe-worthy

I agree, Joan, Cindy McCain's showcasing of her adopted daughter made me very uncomfortable. I am adopted and my mother never would have put me on display like that, even in the very small arena in which we lived. I do admire Cindy McCain for her many charitable causes and don't care if she wears expensive clothes. At least she has good taste, although her yellow dress did look like a rain slicker I have. But the way she called out her daughter was gauche.

Obama needs to take a few lessons from Bill Clinton. "It's the economy, stupid." Obama's trying to tell the middle class, with whom he's trying to connect, that he knows many of them have lost or are in danger of losing their jobs, but he sounds meandering. He doesn't sound as if he "feels their pain," and he can't seem to boil down into a few words how he will help them. I'm getting scared!

Good riddance!

I couldn't be more pleased about the demotion of Olberman and Matthews, and I am far from being a member of the "right." I dislike their smug, self-satisfied, arrogant manner and, in the case of Matthews, his alternating rude and fawning/slobbering behavior.

Desperate Time

Is it really true that Obama can't close the sale, as all the pundits were asking in the closing days of the Primary. omg, it sure looks like it. Listening to Obama say, "Look, . . ." and then meander all over the place, with his hums and haws is just driving me crazy. Yeah, he can give a good, make that great, speech; but he's gotta talk to people as well. Even when he was set up by Olbermann to land a punch, he meandered! Has the word "pithy" ever occurred to him? clear? concise?

Shades of Dukakis explaining what he would do if his wife were raped.

Apologies, Charlie

Yes, I thought Charlie Gibson would give Sarah Palin a soft and, perhaps even, a silly interview. But he was good. Serious questions, respectfully asked and pressed.

Flight Path

Yeah, this was a terrible moment or two for Sarah Palin.

The Putin rears his head remark was pretty comical.

Does she think Putin is a turtle? He is kind of

homely.

However, would someone please tell me the flight path

that an airplane would take carrying Putin from

Moscow to Washington D.C. Why would that flight be

over Alaska? Not over the Atlantic?

Has Sarah lost her last claim to experise on Russia?

Or am I confused? I could be, but I don't claim expertise

based on the countries I've flown over.

North to Alaska - Palins Go Home!

I don't know the answer to your question, Joan. I don't think I could make it. Tina Fey saves the day. Absolutely.

When the Palins go back to Alaska, after Nov.4, let's hope that this "forced" marriage doesn't have to happen (at least the young dude's Facebook page indicated that he wasn't ready for marriage), that the Palin kids get back in school and, please, that their poor baby has a normal bedtime. What time was it anyway after the last debate in MO? I'm on the west coast and even here that baby should have been in bed, not carted about on stage under bright lights.

Get A Life

Good grief. Find something important to criticize. Shouldn't be hard. I saw the polar bear pin on Palin's jacket. I liked it. Of course, I don't want to keep polar bears off the endangered specices list as Palin does. Still I thought this was an extraordinarily petty piece.

Cindy Likes High Style

Oh, please! Cindy McCain was not going to let her husband travel all across the country with some unstylishly attired.

Wednesday, October 29, 2008 10:12 AM

Please Go, Joe!

If Joe Lieberman can continue as a committee chair, the Senate Democrats can not even pretend there is such a thing as party discipline or any reprecussions for extreme disloyality. His sins are numerous.

Just Because We're in Love

I adore the obama family. The girls are darling. Michelle seems so grounded. But that dress . . . Come on! We don't have to lose all of our critical faculties just because we're in love.
