  • frontier

[Read the article: Ask the pilot]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

For my money, Frontier is the best domestic carrier out there, albeit a small one. Seat back DirecTV; young aircraft that are clean and comfortable; friendly, attentive and knowledgeable employees; nice facilities at DIA. I could do without the talking animals in their ads, but that's my only complaint.

  • no more coulter

[Read the article: Democrats: Hope for the House, and good news on the Senate]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Enough with Coulter already. Her's is not a legitimate voice. Even to be criticized gives her currency she does not deserve.

  • landis test

[Read the article: King Kaufman's Sports Daily]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

How many times has Landis been tested in the past? Any other times at this Tour? Have previous tests ever shown an elevated ratio like this one? If he has a naturally high ratio, would that not have been indicated by previous tests? If not, that defense rings hollow.

  • sounds familiar

[Read the article: Rumsfeld to troops: Why don't you stay a little longer?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

This sounds like the deficit numbers game. Boost the troop count to 150,000 now and then draw down to 130,000 so they can declare that they're bringing the boys home.

  • why?

[Read the article: How bad is he?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Mr. Blumenthal - You have told us what, but not why. I can't fully understand the actions without understanding the motivations. Is it wealth? Surely they have access to plenty. Is it power? The power granted to them is not sufficient already? Have they no concept of the swinging pendulum of American politics? The powers that vest in today's Republican president will be wielded by a Democrat soon enough. Is it my worst fear, that these men and women are actually psycologically deranged and our country is controlled by maniacal despots with grandiose ideas of their place in the history of the world?

  • "since 9-11"

[Read the article: Quote of the Day]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

The key phrase being "since 9-11" when referring how long they have been working to protect us against terrorism. A little Freudian slip there revealing a truth. Let us not forget the importance of that issue among the more recent, salacious revelations.

  • Jim Harrison said it

[Read the article: Diet your way to a long, miserable life!]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

The wonderful poet, novelist, novellaist and food writer Jim Harrison said it best. Something to the effect of "The trouble with all of these things that add years to your life is that they are added on to the end and not the middle, when you could enjoy them."

  • W the drum major

[Read the article: Can Bush change course? It's the question Baker won't answer]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

In Texas, GWB had something of a reputation for seeing which way the parade was marching and then jumping out in front and pretending he was leading it. I predict we will see that in this instance.

  • A Plan

[Read the article: White House response to Democrats' plan: Where is it?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Here's a plan - instead of $1 billion for the Iraq WPA, project the cost of 2 more years of occupation, spend that money on the Iraq WPA, and get our troops the hell out of there. If the money is going to be spent, we may as well spend it building things instead of blowing them up and killing people.

  • the "loyal" USAs

[Read the article: Why the purge matters]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

This makes me wonder if anyone is researching prosecutions that did, or did not, take place over the last six years by the 85 US Attorneys who were considered to be "loyal Bushies". Was their loyalty determined by refusing to pursue legitimate corruption cases against Republicans, or by pursuing illegitimate cases against Dems?

  • State Dept spending

    [Read the article: Perino watch]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I know this is off-topic but I want to ask if you could do some reporting on where the State Dept's budget is coming from for the hiring of contractors like Blackwater at 5 to 10 times the pay that our soldiers get. Is it part of the supplementals or is that money just for DOD? Is it being factored in to the total cost of our war in Iraq? And what about injured contractors? Are they treated at military hospitals in theater and then left to seek their own treatment once they return to US? So many questions when you choose to privatize...

  • dara wilkerson

[Read the article: Another SCHIP family smeared]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Apparently Dara Wilkerson should have had an abortion when she found out she was pregnant and had no health insurance. No, wait.....cognitive dissonance here.

  • ranking

[Read the article: Ranking Obama's final four]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Of the 4, Biden is most prepared to step in and be president, which has to be the overarching criterium. So I rank him 1. Kaine has the attributes of an outsider from a red state and executive experience. I would put him at 2. Sebelius has similar attributes but I agree that the Hillary sentiment probably precludes selecting a woman other than her. But I rank Sebelius 3 because....Bayh has no personality and he supported the invasion. Also, I don't think he is prepared to step in to the presidency should that be required. Better choices - Bob Kerrey, Sam Nunn.

  • shortlist

[Read the article: Are Kaine and Bayh the best Obama can do?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

I agree that this list of 4 would be disappointing if it were accurate. Kaine sounds like a red herring to me. While all eyes are on him, I would like to think O is considering a party elder statesman such as Bob Kerrey. First and foremost it has to be someone able to step in to the presidency if need be. That is a more important consideration than whether they may be able to deliver the electoral votes of their home state.

  • sports song

[Read the article: Vedder's Cubs ditty a hit]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

none more eloquent and evocative than Mark Knoplfer's homage to Sonny Liston on the Shangi-la cd.
