Sorry, RMP

I tried to get you think humanely ...

Someone should have told you: shooter doesn't do humane. It would have saved you a lot of time.

There are a few other things that you should be aware of that will help you in interpreting his posts, particularly with respect to his language usage:

"You people" = Intelligent and rational people who are capable of analyzing empirical evidence and reaching logical conclusions based on the evidence. Often found in expressions such as "You people think the invasion of Iraq was a mistake." or "You people just don't like Bush."

"Tsk" = General remark of disdain. Comparing shooter's usage with normal speech patterns, the closest interpretation would seem to be something like "up yours."

"Heh" = 𝔖𝔦𝔢𝔤 ℌ𝔢𝔦𝔩. Obligatory in every post.

We regret the inconvenience.

At least that'e the source I have.

Yes, our sources differ. Mine is <http://www.ac.wwu.edu/~stephan/USfatalities.html>.

I can't resolve the differences, but it's not worth quibbling over. Regardless of what months our troops died in, the simple fact is that too many have died in Iraq so that Osama can live in comfort and security in Waziristan.

More than 3000

However, you should never lose sight of the fact that Osama Bin Laden murdered close to 3,000 people(almost all civilians, and a bunch of children) & he MUST be brought to justice.

If you count the people killed in the embassy bomings in Nairobi and Dar es-Salaam. Of course, most of those weren't American citizens, so you may not want to count them. Otherwise, the point remains: he MUST be brough to justice.

Pakistan is about the most dangerous situation the US faces at the moment. Iran is a mere bagatelle. Iran may have a nuclear weapon in 5-10 years? Pakistan has nuclear weapons NOW. Pakistan is a heartbeat away from becoming a nuclear-armed fundamentalist Islamic state. With a population of about 170 million (Iraq 25 million, Iran 70+ million) of whom 70% are Sunni (as in al-Qaeda/Taliban) muslims, Iraq and Iran put together don't pose as much of a threat (and you could throw in Syria's 19 million and still be short).

Remember that only three countries in the world recognized the Taliban regime in Afghanistan: Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. If anything happens to Musharref, some real bad stuff is going to come down in Pakistan and it isn't going to be good for the US, especially with most of the US armed forces either already deployed elsewhere or not combat ready.

Think about it. Iran has nearly three times the population of Iraq and the US bigod army can't bring order there. Pakistan has nearly three times the population of Iran AND nuclear weapons. The "war" in Iraq would seem like a picnic in comparison.

Panic in Year 0

Do you announce to LA it's the target of terrorist attack? The result would be panic, fear, shutting down of commerce, fleeing the city, closing the airport, and eventually martial law. Add in vigilante gangs, looting, and crime, and Katrina would look like a walk in the park.

Yeah, I saw that movie. It was called Independence Day, wasn't it? I didn't realize that it was a documentary though.

But vigilante gangs, looting, and crime doesn't sound all that different from LA today. Besides, as Rumsfeld says, 'freedom's messy' and 'stuff happens'.

If only ...

If D-Day had been a colossal disaster that resulted in Germany holding control of Continental Europe, Eisenhower would be condemned to this day for his foolhardiness. The fact is, it worked, and he's hailed as a hero.

If frogs had wings, they wouldn't bump their asses on the ground when they hop.

If the Spanish Armada hadn't been destroyed by a fluke storm, we'd all be speaking Spanish now.

¡Adios, chingaro!

Jazeera

Yes the word Jazeera is quite common

Jazeera (جزيرة) is the Arabic word for "island". Al-jazeera (الجزيرة), in common usage, is the "island" formed by the Tigris and Euphrates rivers and corresponds to the classical concept of "Mesopotamia".

Just adding a little context.

Shooter says ...

In the end the ultimate responsibility for all this lies with Saddam.

Ah, the "now-look-what-Saddam-made-me-do" defense. Gee whiz, shooter, make up your mind whether it's all Saddam's fault or all Clinton's fault. Take your time — we'll wait.

Oh, and being wrong may not be lying, but it is if you know you're wrong when you say it. But it's often difficult to demonstrate what someone knows at any particular point in time. This is why it's difficult to prove a perjury charge and why most people here don't straight out call you a liar but rather say that you are either a liar or the most ignorant person on five continents. I'd wager that if Tommy Franks ever met you, Doug Feith would get bumped up a notch.

Politics by other means

The decision of whether to go to war or not go to war is, indeed, a political decision.
— Jebbie

-- Jebbie

This is why the 19th century military strategist Carl von Clausewitz said that "War is a continuation of politics by other means."

This is why the authority to declare war was vested in Congress by the Constitution and not in the Supreme Court.

Indeed, not only is it political, but it should be in the hands of the people, not of the executive. This is why the Constitution assigns this power to the people's elected representatives, the Congress.
