  • Smear

[Read the article: Cleveland to Dennis Kucinich: Phone home]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

The one man in the race who without equivocation, opposed the war steadily and fought for progressive causes, and this is what he gets for that? Obama is a fake and a fraud and continues to get a free ride from the MSM, yet Dennis gets slimed and called an opportunist...the opportunist is Obama, who has no cred as a progressive. Sick of Obama getting off scot free. When is the MSM going to get with the program and point out what a phoney Obama really is? Tell the truth! Letting him get off easy for fear of being labeled falsely as a racist is cowardly reporting...STOP it!

  • They Will Have An Easier Time Now

[Read the article: The Iran hawks' latest surge]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Hard liners see an opening now, what with the horrendous attack in Jerusalem and the recent suspicions about Iran's nuclear intentions. In reality, the Israeli/Palestinian issue is steeped in far more grey shades than the hawks imagine, since despite the barbarity of the attack in Israel, many Gazans are energized to commit such crazy acts because of Israel's overzealous response to rocket firings into their territory from Gaza. What is especially shocking is the horror of seeing those young people killed in Israel...yet there was equally horrible killings of Palestinian children as they became collateral damage in Israel's quest to take out militants. What is clear is that such a strategy of routing out militants and killing civilians accidentally is a disastrous policy, fruitless in that it spawns senseless reactive violence from suicide bombers. In interviews on BBC, many compare it to the "troubles" in Northern Ireland, where an endless cycle of violence got nowhere until each side realized they had absolutely nothing to gain with attacking each other and treating each other as though the other were subhuman. On Iran, the more the US and people like McCain raise the temperature of the silly rhetoric, the more radicalized the Iranians become...this is another aspect of the truly failed policy of the Bush presidency McCain is emulating, one that is deeply unpopular with the American people.

BTW...I thank Salon for its excellent articles...I use to write on Huffpo, but found that site toxic in its pro-Obama shilling, where diverse opinions are discouraged if in any way they shatter the othodoxy about the perfection of Obama.

  • More Kool-Aid!

[Read the article: Obama, Clinton and the black-brown divide]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

One more shill for the "enthusiasm" of an Obama rally...how mnay more pundits are going to hand us this crap? Howard Dean offered such a concept, also...how did that turn out? And look what Dean has done now with the Michigan and Florida primary debacle...so "enthusiasm" offers nothing but intangibilities: an Obama specialty.

  • The consequence of a lapdog press

[Read the article: Tucker Carlson unintentionally reveals the role of the American press]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

It seems more than obvious that the Tucker Carlsons and Tim Russerts of the world are why the media gave Bush and Company a free ticket to lie and distort to the press about the war. Russert has never admitted his shameful role in the Valerie Plame ordeal...why is he afforded this right not to come forward and fess up? In turn, the media have been treating Obama with kid gloves, only after SNL made fun of him, rightly, did they begin to even consider going after his very spotty, very scattered record.

I have seen media types try to excuse this academic's less than respectful comments about Hillary Clinton. They pointed out that she is not familiar with the world of politics and the ebb and flow of a heated campaign...bullshit...we have seen contemptibly misogynistic comments from bloggers, whole websites steeped in hate (Huffingtonpost comes to mind) as well as wild rumors about Obama's background. The level of discourse in this campaign has sunk to new depths...and Obama supporters, supposedly sunny optimists, have shown they are hypocrites, reveling in cheap name calling and tactics they supposedly loathe in the Clintons.

  • Excellent summary

[Read the article: Some free advice for Obama]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Fine summary of a major debacle for Obama if the truth about Rezco ever becomes true. A man clearly unsuited for the Presidency.

  • Would that it was so...

[Read the article: So long, John -- gas is $4 a gallon]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

With the Democrats making a mockery of the primary process, with absurd caucuses limiting the ability of older citizens, shift workers and no absentee balloting allowed, what was once a sure thing is becoming more murky by the day. I blame Howard Dean for this crap...tell Obama and Hillary to sit down, work out some kind of arrangement, and let's get this stupid nomination done. No more trading inane insults that is fodder for the idiot pundits on TV.

If the Dems proceed down the absurd path they are going on, McCain will win even if gas shoots up to 5 bucks.

  • Ah, Kicking a Man When He Is Down

[Read the article: The tragic fall of Eliot Spitzer]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Not to belittle any of the ALLEGATIONS against Spitzer, but it seems the media was in seventh heaven Monday, licking its lips at the chance to bring Spitzer down...not well liked by the media, Wall Street types and the state's all but moribund Republican party, nothing could have suited them better than to see Spitzer shamed...well, he gave them a chance...

What is amazing is the level which so many politicians will engage in behaviors that are certain to bring their downfall. I do not give a damn about the prostitution matter, although in terms of health issues and his wife, that has to be a concern. It was heartwrenching to watch her have to stand next to Spitzer, as have other wives, when their husbands have to admit they transgressed on their spouse.

By the way, although Spitzer's monetary mishaps are deadly serious allegations, if he was found soliciting a prostitute, the calls for his resignation should go as far as they did for Larry Craig and Michael Vitter...they are still in office...WHY?

Spitzer had the potential to be a wonderful governor in a state that Shapiro likes to claim is steeped in corrupt politics...somehow I find this portrayal of NY politics antique. Sort of like portraying Louisiana politics today as it was in Huey Long's day. Never mind. The man the corporations loved to hate have managed to get him out of the way...many boardroom types are I am sure delighted at his demise.
