Yes, let's do that...

AquariusStar

I guess the Left is going to try to tackle the Palin problem with another set of fresh attacks.

Any time you pubs are ready to discuss the actual issues, just say so and we can move on to Palin's political positions.

-- Godot

The left has ceded the moral high ground they so claim they seem to have a claim on when it resorts to shameless and deeply offensive misogyny like this...

It works both ways...

take a hike puritans....

Really... this was funny. Good work Gary. If we can't make humor out of the ridiculous, then what's to laugh at? Palin is ridiculous, regardless of her plumbing. Swipe at her with abandon. She richly deserves it. If you want to sell yourself as a stereotype, then don't be surprised when you're objectified.

-- porsadgai

Then it would be equally funny to some to see Obama as a caricature, such as a lawn jockey or with exaggerated, racist features? Some find Obama as ridiculous as Palin, you know.

This kind of humor serves no purpose, as does pictures of Obama that are racially incendiary.

Spot on

Or better yet, go after John McCain. Obama will not win if this turns into a Barack-Sarah popularity contest.

This is where the left blogs make a fatal and dangerous mistake and why Mack's poll numbers are ticking up...the more she is attacked, the more it will galvanize the base and independents for her, the latter being the people Obama needs to win...

Freak Show

How about if Putin buys you back from us, Ms.Clark?

People like this are as bad as the crazy militia paranoid whackjobs...these people are homegrown terrorists of the Timothy McVeigh school, undermining the union...they are dangerous.

I do not share your outrage, Glenn

Usually I am in complete agreement with most of your posts, but here I have to vehemently diaagree...Keith Olbermann has emerged as the left wing's Bill O'Reilly, with an outsized ego who thinks his pronouncements make him a latter day Edward R. Murrow...one thing Olbermann will never be is Murrow...first of all, Murrow was never as sanctimonious as Olbermann, nor anywhere near thinking he mattered at all in political discourse.

Well put

Good riddence

As a liberal I didn't like either Mathews or Olbermann. They are both egomaniacal propagandists. Bring in the journalists, please.

As I have said before, the answer is not to out propagandize Fox. Two wrongs don't make a right. We need to get back to good journalism and not run away from it because the facts are on our side--otherwise we are wrong.

-- James65

This is the mistake the Dems are making in their responses to Mack/Palin...rolling around in the mud with them is not the solution.

Obama in a vacuum

Obama's commercials make fun of Mack's age endlessly...his latest assinine commercial is a testament to this ageism ploy...that's why McCain's camp was on solid ground to go after Obama on "lipstick" crack...because, as McCain said on The View this morning, Obama chooses his words carefully, and there is no possibility that Obama had no idea the intent of his words...after a primary season of his surrogates, liberal blogs and his own remarks that were steeped in base sexism, I find it a little disingenuous of Conason to whine about the ads Mack has been using against Obama. Obama feels he can look the other way as others do his dirty work or as he uses not subtle innuendo to attack Sarah Palin. Sorry, not how it is done...the Repubs play dirty...they are into a UFC match...Obama can't engage in eye gouging then cry it's illegal.

You sum it up

But it's ok with you that the Obama campaign used all of Rove's patented methods (and the helping hand of Limbaugh) to win the primary, isn't it? As long as it benefits you, it's ok. Hypocrites.

-- red_gti2000

I love when surrogates and lackeys for Obama engage in name calling, slander and innuendo, tried and true Roveian tactics, then become incensed that it is turned back on them.

Brilliant article

Camille, my Mother was one of those upstate NY women you describe...except she took a no-nonsense progressive position on most issues, and would find your position on death penalty versus abortion as untenable...

Still, I love when you write:

Over the Labor Day weekend, with most of the big enchiladas of the major media on vacation, the vacuum was filled with a hallucinatory hurricane in the leftist blogosphere, which unleashed a grotesquely lurid series of allegations, fantasies, half-truths and outright lies about Palin. What a tacky low in American politics -- which has already caused a backlash that could damage Obama's campaign. When liberals come off as childish, raving loonies, the right wing gains...

This is an argument I have made here and many times..the more liberal bloggers like the noxious Daily Kos or the painful to endure Huffington Post continue their virulent smears of Palin, the more McCain will succeed...it is a losing strategy to continue, one I am sure Karl Rove is delighting in.

Sad to say...

Obama continues struggling to gain wider support, particularly among white working-class voters and independents in battleground states...

But this is why Obama is not winning by a much larger margin as he should be...for all the vaunted claims that America has turned the page on its sordid, repellent, prejudice past, the signs indicate that we have not yet reached a level of open-mindedness that some among the Democrats seem to think has happened. Obama supporters like to tout the legions of cell phone users not counted in polls as evidence that he is probably doing much better than anticipated...until we have empirical evidence to prove this meme, one should be excessively cautious of such claims.

The Yankees SUCK that BAD

As a New Yorker, I have grown tired of the Bombers, overpaid jerks who have been known more for their off the field hijinks than on...this is what happens when you have a bunch of spoiled millionaire players who become soft and arrogant to boot.
