Original article: Barack Obama's epic win

UH OHHHH

Hillary isn't conceding...speculation was rampant that maybe she was holding out, because some scandal would engulf Obama...this may be it...all involving the church he belonged to, and which will haunt him for the duration...a new video has surfaced of Michelle Obama railing against "whitey" at the church...and the gay choir director at Trinity, along with two other gay members, were all mysteriously gunned down last November...where is the media on this, outside Chicago??? It appears Obama may have had a connection...with at least the gay choir director...it's a scandal that the press won't be able to ignore much longer...:

Clearly, I suspect this is what the Clinton camp has been waiting to surface, but the mainstream media have been protecting Obama...time for that to end...NOW.

More bad news...

Obama's campaign touts how they get money from small donors...we know this is a lie...ABC News reports on one aspect:

No more cover ups

The media cannot ignore how deeply corrupt Obama is:

Long Overdue

The media and bloggers have fanned a hostility and anger on both sides that never really needed to be there...in hindsight, Clinton and Obama's stands on issues were never that far apart, despite attempts to create a chasm that was not really there. It would be great if both she and he could come together and really pull the party back from its recent days of vitriol, nasty retorts and cheap shots on all sides. A united Democratic party is the Republican side's worst fear...anything but is a certain road to defeat.

How to make things better...

It would get a laugh, make a point and show that she's become a real New Yorker.

Better?

To have an ad with real New Yorkers, all walks of life, with Statue of Liberty in the background, and she says: "Vote McCain this year, folks?" Zoom in, and all say at once:

"FUHGEDDABOUTIT!!!...Obama in November!"

Would be brilliant, fun, and show she is a good sport...

Joan, are you surprised?

Hillary is unfortunately not the first or last older white woman to be trashed, thrown on the dustheap, and demeaned as over, done, and finished...the entire culture this country lives on is one of youth, wrinkle free, Botoxed to oblivion hard bodies...no room for anyone who doesn't fit the bill...the media, with their obsession with ad revenue, don't give a wit about what at one time was called the "Murder She Wrote" crowd...

Despite all the hostility which seems at times based on pure irrationality, it is time to move on...as a gay man, I find the idea of two groups who have faced discrimination fighting with each other, namely women and blacks, to be a dispiriting and sad development in this race...it all started out with such promise...two dynamic candidates, forging a new day for those other than white, middle aged men. Now is the time to try mend the fence that has been breached and to get the party strongly behind Obama and ensure we have no continuation of the failed, dangerous, and bellicose policies of Bush that McCain seems determined to continue.

Parson Jim:

Your rant is precisely why women are sick of men opening their mouths and talking...cant! Move ON!

How bad is McCain's circumspection on Russia?

It would be silly to try to defend Russia from all of the charges mentioned in the Foreign Affairs article. Putin is not a good guy, and the impact he's had on democracy in the region is pretty awful. But there are two things to note. One, Russia still has a hell of a long way to go before it gets anywhere near as bad as China in terms of the lack of democracy and civil freedoms, and China is a member of the G13. Two, all the tough talk and saber-rattling from neocons is used very adeptly by Putin and his kind to shore up support.

Yes, it certainly would be silly to defend Russia...Putin's moves, and his shadow-government position in the current administration run by his puppet choice for new President, show a Russia using its petrodollars from oil to regain some ground of power and influence in the world...of course, this is a direct consequence of Bush Administration's tossing its weight around and assuming that the US is and will be the global power, which of course, is an antique idea that can never survive the growing power of China.

I do not fault McCain for pointing out Russia's acute faults...Bush has been lax on Russia, and allowed Putin to consolidate power, something Bush wanted, of course, for his own self as the executive branch acquired powers that are nothing short of dictatorial...naturally, Putin uses that as a sledgehammer at home to counter criticism of his own dictatorial tendencies...

Spot on

Glenn, you provide a devastating indictment of Broder and his ilk who wasted a full year with mindless reports on the Monica affair, one on which the American public seemed far less concerned and refused to listen to media calls for Clinton to resign. It is indeed tragic that Broder and his lot see the erosion and destruction of civil liberties by Bush Administration as not impeachable offenses...but it should also be pointed out that the same talking point Broder uses, that it was too close to Bush's departure and there are other, more pressing matters to attend to then ousting Bush, was the same idiotic talking point Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid adopted in their decision to take impeachment off the table...THEY, as well as a pliant Washington press corps, deserve a substantial amount of blame for the horrors Bush has perpetrated.

Europe has it right

No genetically created foods...neither should we be doing this as described.

I like the way South Koreans are protesting our beef in huge numbers...they too are not in the mood for any tainted substances...enough!
