So true
[Read the article: The John McCain "centrism" fallacy]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Glenn, you point out a truism about McCain...he is obsessed about righting the wrongs he perceives occurred in Vietnam...as one Vietnam vet wrote elsewhere here:
John McCain is NOT the only American who ever went to Vietnam! AND! Those other Vietnam survivors, if they trust you, will tell you that the Vietnam War was a gigantic mistake and blunder, from the beginning of our American involvement right through to the pitiful helicopter leaving our Vietnam embassy roof.
McCain believes victory is America's goal in Iraq, despite a clear sign it will not be forthcoming. He has bet the farm on a failed, far right policy advocated by the man he chose to embrace literally and figuratively, Dubyah, a man supremely unpopular and one who may very well send him off with his tail between his legs in defeat in November if he keeps up his war mongering.

Finally...
[Read the article: Why Hillary Clinton should be winning]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]...someone rises above the din of rhetoric from the Obamabots, Tim Russert and the other pathetic chattering TV puppets to set the record straight. Obama is a politician, not a transformative figure, and as such, is engaging in the cheapest of ploys to frame the electoral agenda for the convention to his liking...Sean, you spell out his blind ambition clearly and plainly, something few have done because they have been caught up in the selling of the Obama brand to gullible, susceptible, and ultimately, foolhardy recipients. Some of us aren't buying, not now, not in November.

The Truth Hurts for Obamabots
[Read the article: Why Hillary Clinton should be winning]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]I'm all for pieces that both praise and criticize both candidates. But this was nothing more than a laughable attempt to spin Clinton's failures and massive delegate deficit into some sort of positivie message.

The Obamabots have a hard time when they are called out for the brazen opportunists they are...I am glad you feel it is spin, for it says more about your ridiculous inability to accept reality. Obamabots forget that he hasn't won one major state except Illinois that will count for anything come November...Wilentz's point that the minor states Obama won will never go Dem is exactly right...how many friggin' Dems are their in Wyoming? When has Iowa EVER mattered in recent elections? Bill Clinton was creamed in Iowa...end of story.
Wilentz's argument may not suit you, but it is exactly right...as he points out, and you ignore, Obama changed the narrative when it was convenient for him, exactly what Hillary detractors claimed about her...yet the fact of the matter is that when Obamabots prattle on mindlessly about popular vote totals, they need to get it through their heads that it is, as Wilentz said, winner take all come November, and not some caucus where Obamabots are twisting arms and ranting endlessly in some godforesaken little state that will be deciding the outcome of November.

Delusion thy name is Obamabots
[Read the article: Why Hillary Clinton should be winning]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Thanks
I'm glad it's pointed out that this is an opinion piece, and opinions, like assholes, are something we all have. The system is what the system is, and by the math of the system, Clinton is losing.
Precisely why Obamabots will lose us an election. With idiotic logic like this, the Repubs are going to wipe the floor with the Dems...in all those teeny weeny 5 delegate states Obama accumulated. The states where the number of Dems can be counted on one hand.

Can't take it
[Read the article: Why Hillary Clinton should be winning]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]Funnily enough, I'm pretty sure I saw Wilentz at the nearby dog park over the weekend, and was going to suggest he chill with the anti-Obama rhetoric, for fear of completely destroying his reputation among this generation of historians. (Although by now, it's in tatters regardless.) If I'd known a further installment was coming, I'd have taken the plunge.

What kept you from giving the august Professor a piece of your mind, not that anyone would care what an Obamatroll thinks outside the precincts of the latte counters of Starbucks or among the dorms of Hampshire College or Berkeley? Nothing in his argument is disputable, unless you think that hearing the truth just is too much for your overly sensitive Obama-infiltrated mind. I am sure the good professor would be more than happy to document all that he claims that you so haphazardly allege is unsubtantiated, without any evidence to prove YOUR point. Obamabots have a hard time processing any criticism of their idol, preferring to blather on how awful it is that anyone could ever point out facts that don't fit their talking points culled from media puppets. The general election is going to be vastly different than the delusional world of a caucus meeting.

Missing the point
[Read the article: Americans more ready for a black president than a woman?]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]A better female candidate in the background would have upped the people's perceptions about our country's readiness for a woman. And they are out there, btw, working their way up, particularly through the governorships.
The same can be said for Obama and other black candidates...there are many that I would rather see than him...many more.
People use the lame excuse it is Hillary's PERSONALITY that is the problem when in fact their BEHAVIOR says otherwise...
Imagine if someone on the campaign trail had said to Obama "shine my shoes, boy!" what the response would be?
Exactly...utter contempt, and probably a smack down...likewise, the people who claim to know Hillary based on media slurs, innuendo, and Obama campaign releases who would deserve the same slapping for saying "iron my shirts"...
