  • Israeli and American Kabuki with Palestine

[Read the article: Spinning the disaster in Gaza]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

So how many Palestinians in Palestinian political leadership roles have the Israelis either assassinated, blownup, abducted and imprisoned or expunged since 2002?

When you keep killing/disappearing a peoples leaders what is your real strategy?

When fully sanctioned elections are held and Israel and the United States get all pouty about who won and put in motion a process to erase that elections outcome what's up with that?

It is plainly evident the Israelis are using the GWOT to camo their deeper intents and purposes for Gaza and the WestBank.

Olmert surely is quite the actor with his posturing and posing. He is quite the Kabuki artist with his mask changes.

Until the United States gets smarter(don't hold your breath) it is ever so likely Israel will only continue to do what it has been doing since 2002.

It has been suggested by some(Noam Chomsky one of them) that Israel is fully intent on precluding the Palestinians from ever forming a viable political or sovereign existence.

The record of the last 5 years,10 years and 15 years supports that view in many large and small ways.

Israel is doing what it wants in the WestBank no matter what anyone or any group says about it being illegal and not morally or ethically well-founded. Israel is taking what it wants. And then taking more. Got it?

Israel is the puppeteer to the Palestinian Authority puppet. Failure to see or understand how that is taking place/being done -- who controls the tax money payments, passports, visas, border crossings, roads, permits, utilities and airspace -- is surely at the core of this conflict.

There is only one country here,Israel, running the show.

Maybe the realistic thing to do is simply admit it and include the Palestinians in Israel and the WestBank/Gaza.

Of course the Israeli zealots would rather commit to inflicting a lot more mayhem, deathdealing and expunging to get somewhere other than that outcome.

The Americans surely are exhibiting levels of ineptness and ignorance everyday all over the ME these days.

Israel seems intent on gaming that ineptness fully.

Israel however is facing a demographic wave whereby at some not too distant point there is going to be an Arab majority population.

The arithmetic is not in Israels favor.

The Israelis are losing on the moral/ethical/political points.

The Americans are not doing well in this ME dance macabre and when the Americans run out of money or moral credit(it is a tight race these days) they likely will not be in this dance at all.

The Americans surely are not the Palestinians friend and they are working hard to prove that with the Iraqis as well.

The Bush/Cheney gang is all for ME cliffjumping and even speeding up to do it faster.

    See Iran.

  • ...follow-up about WAPO Op-Ed /June 20,2007 Wed.

[Read the article: Spinning the disaster in Gaza]

...Just to clear up any doubts I hope the Israelis and Palestinians do find a way to better days...I have both Israeli friends and Palestinian friends...such a thing is possible.

...They all breathe the same air, drink water and have hopes and dreams. Their children are going to outlive them they know and they all worry about how the future will come to be.

In the Wed.June 20,2007 WashingtonPost there is a pertinent Op-Ed written by Ahmed Yousef titled 'WHAT HAMAS WANTS' at the WAPO website which opens to 'ENGAGE WITH HAMAS--WE EARNED OUR SUPPORT'...not being a missionary here but simply pointing out another point of view.

I know the WAPO got flamed heavily yesterday over R.Cohen's piece and I do think they deserve some credit for/with putting Yousef's piece up today.

For those of us who wade or perhaps dive into these blogsites through the keypads of our PC's we can feel/have empathy over the crossfire of dissent and counter-view displayed and encountered often enough.

    Even as displayed nearby.

  • followup #2...The New York Times has same Op-Ed from AHMED YOUSEF...

[Read the article: Spinning the disaster in Gaza]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

Interestingly/strangely enough THE NEW YORK TIMES for June 20,2007 Wed. is also going with the same WAPO Op-Ed from AHMED YOUSEF on the NYT's Op-Ed page as well.

    ...when it rains...it pours...:-)

    ...go to zmag.org/znet site

Under the znet June 19 entries is an article by URI AVNERY titled 'CROCODILE TEARS'. It offers another view and perspective of the Israeli/Palestinian conflict.

It is worthy of the time taken to seek out and read it.

I am glad to see an earlier abusive/hateful comment was taken out. The choice of wording was malicious and the comment truly ugly and fully intended to be provocative.

Thank you SALON EDITORS/MODERATORS for that edit/deletion.

  • ...a glimpse of a psychopath's world view

    Glenn,

Powerful and on point expose of this monstrous position that N.Podhoretz plainly was willing to state openly in America today.

    American Militarism and Empire.

The look and sound of it to those on the receiving end.

    Stay with it Glenn.

Best wishes on your new book.

  • ...another Krauthammer " hrumph " moment

[Read the article: Krauthammer's plan to deny Palestinians gas and electricity]
[Read more letters about this article: Here]

One could inquire with Mr.Krauthammer as to how he would like it if gas and electricity were to be denied him? Or if the IDF lobbed some tank gunnery fire or sent a missile or bomb into his house via an American made F-16?

Charles Krauthammer...the Major Amos.B Hoople of THE WASHINGTON POST Op-Ed page.

One can envisage the Israelis will fully shove Gaza into a 'Attica' level of absolute breakdown and then proceed to blame Hamas and the Gazans for it having broken apart.

They are blaming Hamas and the Gazans as is anyway.

Throw in some ruthless IDF tank gunfire and air attacks using American sourced fighter jets on a fully debased and caged in civilian population and then turn around and claim Israel has done no wrong and ask what is wrong with those damn Gazans?

Gosh...I dunno...whadya think it could be?

One would hope the Israelis could find some compassion and mercy and demonstrate some basic humanity and decency in dealing with the Palestinians.

Do the Israeli zealots have any sense or thought at all of where the present course they are on leads to?

Being made blind they would not see.
