At First Glance it Looked Like Pygmalion,

But now that we have become more acquainted with her, Sarah Palin more closely resembles Nicole Kidman's character in the film To Die For.

I'm not suggesting that Palin has killed anyone - although allowing wolves to be shot at from planes requires a special kind of contemptible mindlessness for nature and hunting.

As I've posted before, I don't think Sarah believes most of what she says. What Sarah wants is to be famous and glamorous, so I imagine those Tina Fey impressions have hurt more than any criticism from pundits or the press. Her philosophy is less of the Voltaire, Kant, Socrates variety, and more along the lines of homilies like "stick-to-itiveness", "good-old-fashioned (fill in the blank)", and Chicken Soup for the Soul anecdotes, wrapped in a three times a week gym workout, Toastmasters, and lipstick.

Her nonsensical rambling should not and cannot be mistaken for over handling by the McCain campaign. She simply doesn't possess the desire to learn the things essential to governing the United States. She has spent her time focused on how to manipulate the process - something she shares with Karl Rove.

The fact that Sarah Palin can't name a single Supreme Court case isn't surprising, although I'll bet she can describe in detail what Anna Nicole Smith wore to the Supreme Court.

@ rupert_c

The subject isn't hunting. The subject is shooting at wolves from planes.

I Live in Arizona and I've Been Posting About That for Several Weeks

I'm re-posting a comment I made on September 6:

John McCain doesn't understand economic issues - he turns to Phil Gramm for that information. When Phil Gramm ran for president, McCain backed him in the primary. John McCain is a simpleton when it comes to the economy. He thinks cutting government pork is creating economic growth.

We are beyond that. Our economic issues are much more complex than he is equipped to deal with.

Obama addressed this directly in the debate, but I didn't hear any commentary from the press about it afterward. Thank you for mentioning it here. I hope more people can sort out cutting government pork from creating economic growth.

@ bearpaw1

I'm sure there are more than a few honestly ridiculous things our taxes pay for. But I hate it when some political weasel picks something to rant against because it sounds crazy rather than because it is crazy.

Right on.

Original article: How Sarah Palin blew it

Biden Won

Contrast Joe Biden with John McCain who acted as though Obama didn't belong on the same stage with him. Biden has been in the Senate longer than McCain and yet he was gracious and direct with Palin who was so rehearsed she just rolled on like a freight train through west Texas.

Expectations for Palin were so low all she had to do was show up and not drool on herself.

@ Mr E

Oh, you must mean Raul and Fidel. They're the latest comedy act down at the Cuban Cabana. Two shows a night, come on down, they'll be here all week!

Hilarious! When Palin referenced the Castro brothers last night, I told my friend I hoped Sarah was aware that the Marx Brothers had nothing to do with Karl.

Deregulation + Credit Rating Switch = Good Starting Point to Track What Happened

I don't know if this bill is the better or worse of two evils. I don't think anyone does, yet.

@ al loomis

Actually, it was Phil Gramm who called us a nation of whiners. Earlier this year, John McCain said he will make Phil Gramm Treasury Secretary if he's elected.

Phil Gramm was instrumental in the deregulation that allowed this to occur.

McCain's Father-in-Law Palled Around With a Guy Who Blew an Investigative Reporter to Bits

McCain palled around with Keating.

McCain pals around with a guy who helped bring down Washington Mutual and Countrywide.

McCain pals around with Phil Gramm who is central to the deregulation that allowed Wall Street to collapse.

So what's her point?

Does Palin Think the Witch Doctor in Her Church is Mainstream?

She's nuts.

When is History Not a Smear Job?

Keating is relevant because John McCain didn't take away any lessons from the experience. Sure, there was campaign finance reform, but that represents the beginning, middle and end of it.

If the Obama campaign doesn't respond in kind, we'll end up lamenting it like we did four years ago with John Kerry.

Lesson learned.

@ Elephantman

If John McCain knows that William Ayers is a terrorist and he isn't doing anything about bringing Ayers to justice, what does that say about McCain? Oh yeah, William Ayers is a college professor.

Why don't your retreat to the basement and take a copy of A Bright Shining Lie with you.

I know it sounds like it's about Palin but it isn't.

Like It or Not, Dirty Politics Have Been Around Since the Beginning of the Country

Since 1948, the only presidential elections that produced double-digit wins were Eisenhower in 1952 and 1956; Johnson in 1964; Nixon in 1972; and Reagan in 1984.

I think if Obama wins this election, Obama will have won both the campaign and the election.

@ Elephantman

Piss up a rope you little dope. They're kicking the muck-raking bastard out of the country, not jailing him.

Your righteous indignation is pretty hilarious given your deep commitment to a party that has produced more lies and secrecy than any other.

The Sooner Hillary Replaces Reid The Better

I hope Hillary becomes Senate majority leader. I hate losing Biden in the Senate and we need all of the first-rate talent we have going forward.

If there is any residual hard feelings, it's time to set it aside. The enormity of the challenges we face as a nation demand focus, creativity and total commitment to delivering solutions. I have every confidence Hillary can shepherd legislation that will help get this country back on track.

Politics Makes Strange Bedfellows

Obama didn't join the Weather Underground. Todd Palin joined the AIP.

Truman came out of the Pendergast machine in Kansas City, but there is no evidence that Truman was ever involved in illegal activity.

Either cite evidence that Obama is or ever was sympathetic to the tactics employed by the Weather Underground or denounce Palin for bringing it up.

According to this article, she's a stinking, pathetic hypocrite.
